GameHauler Report post Posted January 31, 2010 got to love when you its the perfect morning, nice and brisk out with a light sprinkle in the middle of november heading to your favorite spot only to get stopped by fish and game taking there sweet time to check your game tag, hunting lisence, title registration and plate all of which were shown. then to find out you need a ohv sticker. its a new law started last january 1 2009, ok, $25 not a problem, get one as soon as i get home. no not so fast, "turn it around and load it up, i could give you $300 ticket or even take you to jail if you proceed". now an old timer would say "finish your hunt if i see you back up here without that sticker i will sight you" but unfortunately we have some of these new younger game and fish officers with power trips popping off with there infinite knowledge off laws loving the fact that they just screwed you out of your hunt, wow. thanks God for letting me go with a warning and informing me of the new ways you can take my hard earned money. i used to love redington pass befor a few messed it up for alot. now its just a money maker for the state, so @!&% redington and the officers who patrol it! You have to be kidding me ..... Not having your quad ruined your hunt??? ..... Do you actually read the regs where it is pointed out several times,do you at least look at the highlighted law changes at the beginning of the regs??? Then to get pissed off at a guy enforcing the law that he is hired to enforce ..... 1st- You have no one to blame for yourself for being ignorant of new laws like them or not 2nd- Get off your azz and walk and make the most of your hunt with the new knowledge you were given without the big time fines some have recieved 3rd - Someone call the Waaambulance !!!!! most here like me do not like all or any of the changes and laws we see but it takes a real piece of work to blame others for their own ignorance !! I am sure it is something you have done all your life and learned as a child maybe sometime you will step up and realize a real MAN takes responsibility for his own actions and in your case ignorance .... Well. you came out with both barrels blazing on this, didn't ya. I not sure if I should laugh or feel sorry for him since he has learned his lesson We hope. OK, Just one little: LOL

Mittens2010 Report post Posted February 2, 2010 I am anti ATV, I am tired of hiking up a mountain just to have someone in an ATV make their own road and drive right past me... There are 1 maybe 2 G&F officers in all of 33, so if you want to break the law, just go on one of a thousand other roads and you'll be just fine... There are hundreds of drinking ignorant target shooters up on reddington daily, you might want to find some place safer to hunt anyway...
pwrguy Report post Posted February 2, 2010 i read in the paper the other day that they had to wait a year to make enough money off the tags so they could hire some guys to enforce it. just another tax. tax this tax that. it's a typical gov't program that's main objective is to make new laws and hire new folks to enforce em. a lot like all the different "inspectors" that cities and counties hire. i hate new taxes. tax, tax, tax. gotta end somewhere. i think there needs to be more enforcement to stop folks from tearing up the country on atv's. get sick and tired of seeing where some dumbass tore up a meadow or a road with a quad. but like most laws, the guys that ain't tearin' everthing up get hassled the most. one good thing about this law tho, when i got my ranger i made it street legal and insured and registered it and all that. cost $170 a year to register it. with this new law, it costs the $25 for the off road sticker but the registration went down to like $12 a year. but mark my words, next thing they'll do is they're gonna hassle folks, even us legal folks, for not having highway rated tires. they all say not highway rated on em and they're make a guy park em because of that next. you read it here first. Lark. +1 I grudgingly went out and bought their stupid tag as soon as it became availible. It's just another stupid tax that creates nothing but hassle and cost. Can anyone tell me what my money is going to do other than possibly hire more enforcement officers....maybe?

willhunt4coues Report post Posted February 2, 2010 your missing the point, if this officer would have conducted himself in a professoinal manor there would not be a post. *shrug* And if you had been conducting your activities in a lawful manner, there wouldn't be a post..... LCconvert Report post Posted February 2, 2010 I am anti ATV... I always feel like I am in the minority on this so I am really glad to know I am not the only one. I really feel like we need to start changing how people use these things or just ban them all together cause the other option is to start closing access to our public forests and I don't think any of us want that. And yes, they have already started doing just that!

GameHauler Report post Posted February 4, 2010 D-Bomb, for the most part I think you handled this pretty well considering some of the replies after you calmed down a bit from being upset with what happened I am sure you learned from it and I love to say I learned something new today so I am not Dead. Get your sticker and plate and don't forget insurance. My insurance is $100.00 a year so not that big of a price to pay to do what we love to do. Good luck on your up coming trips. Well said Brad, Although I dont think ya did anything "wrong" from just needing to vent a bit. People just have a hard time reading and understanding just what the heck a feller is trying to say on the net. That being said, I know you better than that, and since you have always had your rhino street legal this musta been a heck of a bad deal. Cant hardly believe you could have been arested for not having a sticker....Terry
BML Report post Posted February 4, 2010 What most people don't realize is that when you spend the $25 on the sticker, you qualify for a reduced registration rate of only $4. I noticed from the last post that you are a Rhino owner like myself. That $25 OHV sticker saves me a ton of money every year on registration and I imagine it will you as well. Lesson learned. I think everyone one understood that it does suck to be hassled with on a great hunting day...but as i found out with my experience is the officers were ordered to start writing tickets for no sticker...so i think we both were very lucky that they gave us some slack!!! Great way to handle this situation on CW!!
