bonecollector Report post Posted January 31, 2010 That's a great find with all these monsters killed this year I wouldn't doubt it if it was a wt, but probably a muley.
AZantlerhead Report post Posted January 31, 2010 Muley with East. WT style rack. NOT a Coues. Skull /plate is far too large. Find someone who has a 100 inch COUES skull from a buck that was very old 7-11. Compare it to the size SKULL of your muley pick up wich looks to be from a very mature deer as well, your friends Coues SKULL will be smaller by far, never mind the antlers shape/size or pedicle size wich actually tell Little of the species in some cases. Big and small antlers of all shapes and sizes still grow on a skull that is porportionate to the species. The distance between pedicles is usually tell tale( four fingers for MD, three for Coues) but not allways the case, as ive seen that theory flipped on some heads.. The SIZE of the whole SKULL or SKULLPLATE never lie though. Least that's what a little bird tells me. That's what makes those 150 coues' look so astronomically rediculus, it's cause they are attached to a little tiny skull/deer . Great rack though, bet you're pumped, thanks for postin, great find! What's the spread on that bad boy?
