Coues 'n' Sheep Report post Posted January 29, 2010 HaHaHa... Mike you crack me up! Well my phone rang a month or so ago and a good friend who I have hunted with in the past asks me if I’d be interested in videoing a his upcoming Zimbabwe hunt? I was speechless! “…ah… well…ah… well, I think Absolutely…. But I gotta know more…”, was my lame response. He laughed and said, “I expected that from you…. You want details. HaHa!” Then he began to tell me that he had booked a Big 4 hunt (Lion, Leopard, Cape Buffalo, and Elephant) last year and the more he thought about the hunt and being in the African back country for 23 hunting days, the more he thought that he wanted to have a hunting buddy to share the hunt with. He told me that if he hired a guy to video over there it would cost him as much as would to pay for me to tag along and that I could even shoot any plains game that I wanted to pay the trophy fees on for myself! The only expenses that I would be responsible for was my airfare and of course any trophy fees… even with the current state of the economy, and it being hard to spend any money at all on anything that is not a “need item”, I just could not say no to a 3 week safari in Africa. The thought of getting to be right there on a hunt that I would otherwise never in my lifetime be able to afford… a hunt that even Scottyboy described as his own personal Dream Safari…. It is just an opportunity that I could not say no to… and opportunity that my Wife told me I was not allowed to say no to…. So not wanting to jinx myself… I quietly began prep and after my buddy got back from the SCI show this weekend with the finalized details from his outfitter about my tagging along.. it was time to get air fare… he and I bartered some Alaska miles for my domestic flight and I bought a discounted flight from DC to Johannesburg, South Africa where I will meet my buddy, Ron, for the Remaining two flights that will put us deep into North Eastern Zimbabwe. So there is no turning back now! It is official… I’m going on the hunt of a lifetime on the Dark Continent in just over two months!! I am just sooo Stoked… Now I got get in shape… save some $$$ so I can bring home a critter or two…and learn how to be a videographer in 60 days or less! HaHaHa! Kilimanjaro Report post Posted January 29, 2010 Man, nailed it!! Dande is chalk full of elephant.. If I recall correctly, Dande and Chewore both border Mana Pools National Park, thus the reason why the buff and ele can grow.. Hence the good numbers of lions too. When we head back in Oct, we are hunting in Chete this go-round.. It lays on Lake Kariba itself, upriver from Victoria Falls on the Zambia border. Great numbers of both buff and elephant. Highest leopard concentration in the country. But the ivory is better up-river in both Dande North and South and the Chewores. CM safaris is one of the best. Buzz and Miles are DYNO-MITE!! They know their caca.
