willhunt4coues Report post Posted January 27, 2010 Use JB weld no in all seriousness use the blue, red is permanent, blue is semi-permanent.
.270 Report post Posted January 27, 2010 either one should be ok. what does it say on the bottle? i've been using red for years, because that's what i have. super glue works well too. it breaks loose easy. just don't use too much. when i was a kid we always used varnish. More D Report post Posted January 28, 2010 Thanks for the responses. I also did some internet searching and 'bases only, not the rings' seem to be the consensus. My issue is that my scope is drifting forward. Perhaps I am not tightening them sufficiently? I don’t have a torque wrench let alone one that measures in inch ponds. Leopold actually recommends adding oil to the treads to increase tightening? Any thoughts?
Red Rabbit Report post Posted January 28, 2010 SW will have a yellow bodied FAT torque wrench for gunsmithing. If the scope slips in the rings and ring screws are tight, you could put a piece of electrical tape inside the rings.
