Loc tight

Recommended Posts

I need to put some loc-tight on my muzzle loaders ring and bases. Which color should I use? Red, blue or ??

Thanks in advance!

Use JB weld  no in all seriousness use the blue, red is permanent, blue is semi-permanent.

either one should be ok. what does it say on the bottle? i've been using red for years, because that's what i have. super glue works well too. it breaks loose easy. just don't use too much. when i was a kid we always used varnish. Lark.

Thanks for the responses.

I also did some internet searching and 'bases only, not the rings' seem to be the consensus. My issue is that my scope is drifting forward. Perhaps I am not tightening them sufficiently? I don’t have a torque wrench let alone one that measures in inch ponds. Leopold actually recommends adding oil to the treads  to increase tightening?

Any thoughts?

SW will have a yellow bodied FAT torque wrench for gunsmithing.

If the scope slips in the rings and ring screws are tight, you could put a piece of electrical tape inside the rings.
