couesarcher Report post Posted January 23, 2010 Need some help and advise I'm looking to upgrade my son's bow. He is 14 yrs old, 5"8" and 140 lbs. He has been shooting a kids bow that I got from a friend, he has now outgrown it (poundage wise). His draw length is 27 inches and draw weight is 50lbs. I have heard that bows with dual cams are a little tough to tune in, don't know if thats true. I have been looking at Parkers Wildfire XP or the Diamond Razors edge (this one has dual cams). If any of you guys know of any other bows to look at or have any advice I would surely appreciate it. Also what does it mean when they say they valley will change on a bow? What is the valley? Thanks Terry

BowNut Report post Posted January 24, 2010 The valley is the part of the draw after the bow lets off to full draw. If a bows valley is short it is tuff to shoot because it wants to take off on you. I would take him to shoot all the bows in the price range you wish to spend. With 27" draw and if he pulls 50# with no trouble I would get him a 50-60# bow there are tons of options not just the 2 you listed. Let him shoot all of them you can and let him see what he likes.
