Antler Growth/Polish timing

I'd like to try to get my achery coues right in the window when the antler growth is complete, but before he starts to rub of the velvet. This is off the website:

 

"For Coues deer, antler growth happens from June-September. During that time, the antlers are covered with "velvet". After the buck has completed antler growth, the velvet dries up and is rubbed off (antler polish). In Arizona, Coues deer typically polish their antlers from late September to mid-October."

 

So if I'm reading this correctly, it looks my window would be early to mid September. Does anyone have any comments about what they have seen with growth and polishing around this time?

Good ? I have seen velvet on them in late Oct. I guess it all depends on mother nature.

My experience with Mule Deer is the older the buck the sooner they rub. I have noticed a few examples of this with coues, but not enough to confirm it.

Tam and I just got a picture of a nice buck that appears to be done or close to it. We also had pictures of bucks that we know will be bigger that are far behind this one. I think mid septemeber would be the safe bet.

Last year, on Sept. 27th, I jumped a group of 6 bucks together and they all still had velet on execpt the big boy in the group. He was already polished up. And there were some really nice bucks in the group that still had velvet on.

Last year I had a shot at a buck on the last weekend of the archery hunt. He didn't have one pice of velvet. The buck next to him, had a little bite.
