Input on Eberlestock Slingshot

Recommended Posts

Anyone using the Eberlestock slingshot pack that can give some input, I would greatly appreciate it. I currently have the Blacks Creek Whitetail pack and like it, but I am looking for something that can carry my bow. Anyone used both and have any input?

Hello Southerncoues- I have used the slingshot. I have some good things to say and some bad. As far as packing your bow it works great, you have to spend time adjusting all the compression straps to get it just right, but it never FEELS just right, but you will get used to it.As far as releasing your bow from your back it works great as advertised. You release one quick snap at your right chest muscle and the bow comes out over your right shoulder effortlessly and quietly. Now for the bad. As I stated it never feels quite right because it has a padded neck that the bow is secured to and that pad gets to be a pain in the neck, like right in the back of your neck.It really shows itself when you try to crawl with the bow secure. You can't pick up your head because the bows limbs are in the way. The size and weight are great for a day packer , but that is about all you can pack, a days worth of water and food. I hunted with it a season and went with a Blacks Creek Canadian which I use to pack the animals out with. I used it all Elk season which was nice because there was no way I was goin to use it to pack out an elk but I could cover alot of ground because of the weight and had enough room for a day hunt. Enjoyed it alot on the elk hunt. If you pack enough for a day hunt and want to stay light on your feet I say good pack (not great) but if you hunt when it is hot you might need more room for water. I like mine in cool weather. Good luck.

I have the E-Stock Slingshot and like it a lot. I haven't really used it to carry my bow though. I think I've only worn it with the removable padded portion that connects to the upper part of the shoulder straps once or twice. I didn't really like the feel of it and I usually just prefer to carry my bow or use a sling.

This pack has become my goto pack for archery elk when I'm chasing bugles or early archery deer hunts when still hunting. I also like it for turkey hunting. I really like the size and comfort of it. I don't plan on packing out any meat with it, but I honestly think if I wanted to I'd be able to put a hind qtr in the bow bucket for a short packout. I've carried my kids with them sitting on the back of the pack before when shed hunting and it was comfortable enough (for short distances).
