scoutm Report post Posted January 7, 2010 Was treated to a nice view of the fire - the picture could have been taken from my back porch. If we don't get rain soon we can look foward to a lot of these this spring. What happened to El Nino and a wet winter? http://www.kold.com/Global/story.asp?S=11781643
SilentButDeadly Report post Posted January 7, 2010 It might have been in buffel grass - if so welcome to the future of our new flammable Sonoran-African savannah! The El-Nino is probably being dried out because of the cold North Pacific we are experiencing right now: http://ffden-2.phys.uaf.edu/645fall2003_we...undson/enso.htm
Red Rabbit Report post Posted January 7, 2010 Rather smokey in my neighborhood today also. USFS is doing slash pile burns. The low temps will slow the grass fire near you, but some more moisture is definitely needed. Not much prospect in our 10 day forecast.
