New Phone

Recommended Posts

I know I made this same post a year or so ago

but am thinking about it again because I can not text.

Even if I could it would probably take me 10 minutes to say Hi

I really see the advantage of being able to text while on a hunt and I

guess I should stop fighting the 21'st Century.

It is not that I am fighting it but I have 3 complete hands free

and external antenna set ups for my current phone (Motorola Brick)

and hate to have to replace all that too. (Just kidding about the Brick)

I do not care about all the fancy stuff like webing and camera but think

all that crap will come with what I need which is the best power to get

calls (text) in remote areas.

Most of my time, in fact just about ALL is spent in the Payson area and

service is just not that great yet.

Verizon still seems to have the best service but is only fair once you get out of town.

So, you techno guys that spend alot of time in remote areas

what is the BEST phone for me to get with just the need to have service

and be able to text?

Thanks in advance ;)

Oh yea! I heard something about keypads that make texting easier?

GH, cell phones are so small now days, your arms are prolly not long enough to see the screen. :P

Oh Yea,

Thanks Butt head,

I forgot to mention a 52" screen <_<

Yes a big screen IS A MUST :(

Maybe I will grab the chain saw and cut off your

big toe nail and then I could hold it a foot further away

and then cut off the next nail and with a diamond grinder

Grind a point on the end and would have a tool to type text

Check out the Samsung Rogue that's what I have and buy far the best phone I have ever owned better then my Blackberry's. And as far as service I am Verizon now formally Alltel and I have absolutley no problems with signal even in remote area's it's actually impressive where I get signal now. I always had better signal with Alltel but now that they merged it is awesome!

The biggest function of service is the provider - by a long ways. Verizon is the best in NV, but I have AT&T because I can't live without my iPhone . I even did this post on the dam thing! Find out which provider has the best service where you hunt and then see which phones they have.

Well, like i Said

Verizon seems to have the best service here

and I went to their web site and looked at hundreds of phones

but that does not tell me what will give me the best service in remote areas.

I love technology and am not afraid of it but just hate researching it so I come

to the family for input from HUNTERS that spend time in the field.

Service and power is all I am looking for with the exception to be able to text.

Check out the milspec Casio Rock through Verizon.. It is water, drop, and dust resistant. It has some cool features like a digital compass, flashlight, pedometer, moon phase thing, sunrise and sunset thing, etc. So far I really like mine.

some one makes a signal extender. I mean like a real 2 ft antenea (sp) that works for verizon. I was looking into it for a while to put in my truck. I think it was 100 to 150 bucks. Ill see what i can find again. I know of people getting good service all down the colcord road with it. The lg enV's all have big screens (on the inside) im on my 3rd one. in the last 4 or 5 years. I like em, but i text alot and send abunch of pics on it too.

I have 3 of the magnetic Wilson antennas that are about 16" long.

They do help and I carry one in by pack to help me get out if I

should need to.

Fortunately all I will have to buy for a new phone is the screw on

adapter for the particular phone.

They run about $12.00 to $15.00 for the adapter.

Leaning towards the Rogue at this time.

I like the large screen and text key pad.

Anyone else have a suggestion?

My Daughter said she had not heard much good

on the enV Touch and you know how much teens

use their phones but it was my second choice

because it has pretty much the same features.

Hopefully the Verizon store will be open Tomorrow

so I can go in and get a hands on feel.

I hunted round about Payson area this past year quite a bit, give a good 30 mile radius or so, and had really good reception/service with my Blackberry Curve. I'm with Verizon too.

I happened to be with Alltel last summer before I switched to Verizon. In Young, I could not call out, even when I had full bars on my phone with Alltel. Really pissed me off.

The Qwerty Keyboard on the phone is great. Does take good pics, but since you're not interested in that, no biggy.

My Brother had really good reception with the Blackberry Pearl too. It seems to be a little bit stronger than mine actually, but I like the full keyboard on the Curve.

I know I'll probably eat my words as soon as I type this, but the Blackberry Curve is the best phone I've had. Had it for about 6 months and have had zero problems. I text a lot and use the internet when I need too.

I get coverage almost everywhere with Verizon. Had T-mobile and it sucked. Sometimes, I could not even get coverage in my house in Gilbert.
