Why do you apply for the coues hunt that you do?

Main reason to me at this time is close to home,

A couple of good Deer if you spend the time and with

the economy it just works better right now being a small business owner.

 

As much as I would love a Rocky tag or the girls draw a Sheep tag that would hurt

 

My guess would be that the poll will show most do it for knowing the unit best.

I just like being in different country than I have here. Southern AZ is really amazing in the cool of late fall.

Mine started off because it was close to home. I started hunting there several years ago when my wife just had our daughter. I figured close to home was best that season. Since then, it has become more because I know the unit best and because my family can come out to camp and hang out with us.

Most important to me is high draw odds and haveing another opportunity to go hunting.

Everything else can be sorted out from that point.

I like different units. 7 to date.

I put in for the unit that I do, because I have hunted there for thirty years. The unit holds alot of fond for memories for me and has a spiritual value as well.

 

It is also a unit where you can get away from the crowds and have a reasonable chance of finding "Mr. big"

I would hunt any unit that hold Coues deer. Alas, you only get two choices.

I like to put in where I think I can get one. Don't mind so much whether it's big or not, just so long as it's made of meat.

I cruise this site and see where all the big bucks are being taken and when some one does the

 

" hey look at the buck I killed in unit 20 C".. I then apply thanx!!1

I started out hunting a unit that quickly turned into a metropolis. Switched to another that had very little pressure. After several years tried one that was supposed to be 'packed with big deer'. All it was packed with was other hunters and those 'helpers' who seem to tag along. After butting heads with several hundred people each year, I went back to the unit I had hunted before. Half the tags, but twice the access and most of the hunters that draw that unit all go in the same place.

I put in for the unit I hunt for multiple reasons. Since I live in Tucson, I'm not far from a lot of coues units. I've hunted units that hold "bigger" and more deer, but I still go back to my favorite. Now if time is short and the bow is in hand, then one of the closer units works just fine.
