You can start by using Google Earth to look at the area, the tanks show up well on it. Most of the back roads lead to a water development of some sort. The trickthese days is to find out which ones have water in them and which ones don't. ;)

I believe the AZ. Game and Fish Dept. has a book that shows the "Water Catchments" they have constructed (and locations) all over the state. These would be rain catchments and not include water holes/cattle ponds etc.

It might be a good resource, I am thinking about getting one myself. Look on their website, http://www.gf.state.az.us/ I believe they sell for about $30. Good luck.

I've grown up in this unit, and love it! There's tanks and holes everywhere, just pick an area... But you'll have to find out which ones have water, you never know anymore in this dry weather...
