TEAM JESUS Report post Posted December 2, 2009 Anyone ever customized a T/C Encore Pro Hunter. I have a fairly new 7mm that I want to see what it will take to tighten up the groups. What have you done and what should be done first. So far, the only thing I have done is break in the barrel properly. If you know a good shop to do the work, let me know also. azhuntnut Report post Posted December 2, 2009 I have done some work to mine that has made it a very accurate rifle. One of the first things you can do is take off the forearm and sand it down so it will not be touching the frame on either side, plus I sand mine a bit where the barrel might come in contact with it. Then I changed out my frame pin. Now you can buy these online for big bucks, but I found some hardened steel dowel pins that were less than a dollar that were just a tad larger than my original pin. Now it is a very tight lock-up. You can also have a trigger job done by a guy here in town by the last name of Van Horn, if it is already not good enough. He is the TC pro. TEAM JESUS Report post Posted December 3, 2009 AZHUNTNUT-Now with this new frame pin. Do you have to have every barrel you have for it drilled out? What is the big bucks for a pin? Price range. GameHauler Report post Posted December 3, 2009 I have had the triggers done and sanded the forends as azhuntnut said. be sure you can slide a dollar bill between them Something I learned a short while ago is to get a rubber o ring and slide it over the screw where the barrel touches the forend. I have not had a chance to try it yet but liked the idea. Not only does it take away any direct contact but also acts like a lock washer and if the screw would come loose, I am thinking it might not fall out since the o ring should hold it. This is my first Encore and will let you know how that trigger turns out. May be a while to get it back since I told Clay no rush and he is busy. azhuntnut, not trying to take away what you did with the pin but, I frequent a site that has a bunch of TC NUTS and the general conscious is it is a waste of time and money. (Just what I read) I think the best way to tighten up your groups is to reload but if you have no interest in that then what has been mentioned will help. azhuntnut Report post Posted December 3, 2009 I think the pins are about $30 bucks. I have heard that sometimes it works, that is why I found my own. You do not have to drill out the hole. The new pin is only thousands bigger in size. I had my machinist take the measurements for me. One of my frames has a trigger job from Van Horn and it feels great. Jesus, I mostly used the Encores for big game hunting since I am a lefty. I used to own a bunch of Browning A-bolts, but found that I liked having several calibers to choose from, plus they are a little lighter. My Encores are just as accurate as any of my a-bolts were.
