youngbuck Report post Posted November 26, 2009 Well i haven't been around lately cuz ive been on another forum I was rear ended sittin at a red light and it totaled my truck. So i bought a new truck. Anyways Ive been researchin suspension stuff and tires. I had good luck w/ discounts pathfinders AT on my light weight truck. for my new truck id like somethin a little better. BFG ATs are always decent here in AZ but want to step up to a bit more aggrsive but not a KM2. I found the goodyear duratracs. They look really good but am wondering how they hold up in the rocks. I dont wanna spend 800-1000$ on tires that i will destroy in 15k mi. If any body has used em let me know what you think. ive read a ton of good reviews but no one here in AZ, so fear they sound good to me.
GameHauler Report post Posted November 26, 2009 I have not been very happy with the BFG's AT's, I have had to many come apart on heavy trucks. Take a look at this link for some ideas from AZ guys. http://www.thearizonahunter.com/forum/view...f=19&t=3730
Guest borderboy Report post Posted November 26, 2009 I had BFG Ats once. I didn't like them. They packed up in mud, hydroplaned on water, and didn't do well at all on rocks, and didn't grip well on pavement either. They were phased out in the Army with thousands destroyed by cutting the bead on them. They went to Goodyear. I went to the BFG Mud Terrain tires. I used the 33x9.50 - 15s. Best tires I've ever had. I'm on my third set. They self clean in mud, travel well in sand and grip nice on rocks. They also wear long and don't make a lot of noise. I have a friend who swears by the ATs though. I probably didn't help you any huh?
cramerhunts Report post Posted November 26, 2009 I've been running the duratracs on some of my work trucks and really like them so far. I have one 08 F-350 with a little over 15,000 on them without any problems. The other two trucks only have about 8,000 but haven't had any problems either. These trucks are ran mainly in the mines and get abused pretty bad. So far so good and unless something happens they will be the next tires I put on my personal truck! scoutpylot Report post Posted November 26, 2009 Call the maintainance shop for Pink Jeep Tours in Sedona. They are testing the duratracks on the tour Jeeps. Even though the Jeeps are pink, they get HAMMERED!. I think they will give you an honest opinon of a field tested tire in their fleet. Just my 2 cents........look at the PRO COMP all terrain. This is the only all terrain I could find with a 50,000 mile tread wear warranty. Have about 4,000 on them now and still happy. Holding final judgement to see how far they go. Good Luck! azhuntnut Report post Posted November 26, 2009 I had some of the new Duratracs on my Duramax for about 6k, but started to notice that they were getting hard to balance. Discount replaced two of them thinking the tires were bad. It did not fix the problem, so I decided to mark the tire with a grease pen and found out that the tire was actually rotating on the rim a little bit each time I accelerated. I really liked the tire and would have loved to keep it, but I couldn't stand the vibration on the highway. Goodyear tires have a little softer compound than other tires, which causes them to grip better on pavement. I had the same problem with there wranglers back in 2002 on one of my other trucks. If you have a high torque and heavy truck I would say pass on these tires. Discount ended up putting a set of BFG's on my truck and the problem went away completely. There not as good offroad, but get the job done. I have had at least 8 different types of tires (mud&AT's) (BFG/Toyo/Procomp/Goodyear)on my trucks in the last 7 years and found that the BFG AT's seem to hold up the best for me. They have to hold up to heavy towing, lots of highway, and offroad use. I would recommend the Duratracs over the BFG's if your truck is not a diesel. Which ever tire you buy, get the road hazard warranty. I already had to use it on a tire that only had 6k on it. David

youngbuck Report post Posted April 8, 2010 Well I put the duratracs on about 2.5k ago. 285/75/16. They are doing well so far. Quieter than any MT ive heard and way more agressive than any AT ive seen. They get my vote so far. If I get anything over 30k ill be satisfied if I get 40k+ ill be really pleased.
