bowhunter4life Report post Posted September 23, 2010 ok I'm an idiot How did I miss that Amanda carries these knives??? I noticed on the funniest picture voting that the prize is one of these knives. ...Go figure........ I have been using this same knife for the last 3 years and with one blade to spare from the original 12 pack. I think with these 11 blades I have performed over 10 big game critters plus I skinned my lion life size. I just ordered another 3 packs of blades and a caring case from Amanda's store! Once you use one, you will not use any other! Mike
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted September 23, 2010 Thanks Mike! I just got some of the new havalon filet knives in too. They are longer and for fileting fish. Very nice! I have yet to add them to the store because they just came in yesterday.

elkaholic Report post Posted October 2, 2010 not to be a negative reply but i was trying to use this knife on my elk - butchering on my tailgate - I was skinning up the rear leg and just getting started when the blade came off- now i know it was snapped in properly - how it came off I dont know - where the blade went i wasnt sure but i proceeded to use my ole stand by - a schrade - It skinned-quartered,cut out the leg sockets etc. I had used it to gut split rear pelvis also - I hope to give this knife another try but didn't have time to mess with replacing blades - etc - especially under a street light skinning/ quartering out an elk bymyself! youngbuck Report post Posted October 2, 2010 They take a little getting used to. You can't pry with them. You also have to make sure there nothin on the knife when you put in a new blade, like skin or meat. They are extremely sharp. I've seen them take a fingernail off effortlessly. There is nothing better if you can not pry with them. I broke a few blades learning.

Listening to everyone it seems they are a good thing if you know how to handle them but if there is all this trouble with breaking blades and getting use to using them then I'm going to stick with my hunting knives. Sorry! TJ
tjwking Report post Posted October 5, 2010 I got to use one on my bull elk this year. Never used one before and I learned pretty quick not to twist while cutting. I snapped 1 blade and after that there was no more problems. The knife is beyond sharp and it made the job of caping and cleaning a snap. I was very impressed with it. I'll be ordering one very soon.
