azpackhorse Report post Posted July 8, 2005 I am in the market for a new bow, I am looking at the Bow-Tech Allegiance. Does anyone own one? How do you like it? I am going to go shoot one next week but would appreciate any feedback on this bow. I've narrowed it down to two bows, Switchback and Allegiance. I went to shoot a Browning Illusion last night but they didn't have any.........this is where they build the things! You would think that they would keep at least one around for people to look at. 6.5man Report post Posted July 9, 2005 I'm in the exact same position myself! I too have narrowed down my choices to the Bowtech Allegiance or the Mathews Switchback. I have shot both on the same day at different locations and was blown away by both of them. They are both great bows, and I honestly don't think I could go wrong with either of them. I personally like the hard wall on the draw and the grip of the Allegiance better than those of the Switchback. However, the Switchback is a very sweet shooting bow too. Then again, the Allegiance is faster and a tad less expensive. I'm currently leaning towards a 60# Bowtech Allegiance. I persoanlly just love the way it feels when I shoot it. Plus the added speed will make up for not pulling a 70# Matthews! Again, I would be proud to own either of these bows. You really just need to shoot both and go with what feels best. A little speed or smoothness isn't going to make or break one over the other. Good Luck, and please do let us know which one you choose. Troy
grizzly Report post Posted July 10, 2005 I personally am a Mathews guy, but in the latest issue of Bowhunter Magazine there is a serviceman in Iraq who wanted to hunt Ibex and Bowtech sent him and a couple of bows outfitted with everything needed. What a great thing for Bowtech to do. This kind of support makes me think I would definitely give Bowtech a try.
azpackhorse Report post Posted July 15, 2005 Me too Grizzly, I have been shooting an Ultra-Max for the last 6 years but yesterday I took the plunge and bought the Bowtech Allegiance, it should be here next week. I am anxious to put it on the chrono after I get it set up and tuned, my Ultra-Max is shooting 265fps w/475gr arrow 30"dl and pullin 72lbs. If what they say is true then the bowtech should be over 300fps......we'll see.
6.5man Report post Posted July 16, 2005 I'd be very surprised if you got a 475 gr arrow over 300 fps since the IBO rating is only 322-328 for a 350 gr arrow at 70# and a 30" draw. Anyways, my shopping is over! I ordered an Allegiance today! 60# and 30" draw. I love the way these things feel and shoot, and I haven't even been able to try one at my proper draw length yet! I can't wait til mine comes in! Editted P.S. I changed my mind and up the draw to 70# - more options.
azpackhorse Report post Posted July 20, 2005 I am going to "shed" 100 grains or so off the weight so I should gain a little there. I will have my Bowtech back next week and after it is set up and ready to go I will Chrono it here at work, I will let you know what the #'s are.
azpackhorse Report post Posted July 29, 2005 Got the Allegiance set up with a Trophy Ridge drop zone and Trophy Ridge Matrix sight, I went with Carbon Weave 300 arrows and was able to drop down to 28" and 8.6gpi. Now my arrow weight is 383gr, it chrono'd at 308fps and extremely quiet. Draw weight is 72lbs, almost makes me want to leave that Oct. rifle tag in the safe! Hopefully I can stick a turkey next month with it. How did yours turn out 6.5? http://www.goldtip.com/calculators/kinetic.asp This link will give you your kinetic energy, type in arrow weight and fps and hit calculate. My k.e. is 80.7.
