MEAT

Recommended Posts

My brother asked me to post this and see if anyone has ideas. He has the first hunt in Unit 22N the rifle tag. He has a freezer full of meat still from deer, antelope and elk. He doesn't have anymore room if he kills a bull on his hunt. He wants to know if anybody knows the phone number to any of the non profit type organizations in the valley that accept game meat like the homeless shelters or what not. Or if there is anyone on here that would want the meat. Any ideas are welcome. Thanks

Dang right I know someone who needs it ;)

He would be more than happy to process it and help get it out

of the woods.

I! opps, He has an empty freezer and no tags and after 10 years

or better eating nothing but Elk, beef tastes like crap.

Shoot me a PM and I can give you some contact #'s and

will be on my way to take care of it. ;)

Adobe Mountain Wildlife Center is where I take my elk and deer. It's a small tax break too. The birds there can really use it. There's also a place in Scottsdale that will accept it. I think it is called Liberty? Adobe Mountain is moving to Game and Fish headquarters soon.

hello - I agree with keep the fresh elk meat and use up some of the stuff in the freezer - how about having an ole fashion BBQ and invite some of your freinds over - You supply the steaks and they bring the beer and the rest - -Always fun ! - gary -

seems he's already tagged his elk - good luck on his hunt

I've taken left over-OLD- freezer meat to Adobe Mtn. wildlife center before - they really put it to good use - helping injured wildlife ,that are in their care !!

****- this ones for you -- Mike - here's my try - ----- hey man I'll take the meat - just contact me asap after its down - I'll even go along and pack it out - Been so long since I had elk meat as and - elkaholic - I'm going thru wildrawls - I get the shakes real bad - besides my freezer empty too! -****

Like gamehauler said, I know people who could use that meat. My aunt is having hard times right now and my buddy/schoolmate didn't get a mulie. Buying meat from the store is expensive, especially to poor college kids. He'd be glad to get it. My recommendation would certainly be to at least make it so that it will be consumed by people, and not a bunch or birds. They can eat roadkill. If you want send me a PM, I'll find somebody who can use it.

Take it to Von Hansens in Chandler and you can have them process it in to the Sausage sticks.... They are so good and they will keep and take up less space. Free up the space in the freezer and you can have the meat sticks for your pack or whenever. That's what I would do.

Thanks for the replies so far guys. My brother hasn't had a chance to get on here yet and read the replies and if he tags out its his meat and his choice. I think the reason he is looking for someone to take the fresh meat is so he doesn't have to pay processing fees. With the way economy is now he is lucky to afford the hunt itself. I'll pm any of you when he lets me know what he wants to do. Thanks again guys.
