Congrats on the efforts and their reward.

That buck may look familiar to larry and me from earlier that morning ;)

Great deer! Nothing better than a hard earned buck. I enjoyed the great story. I'm glad nothing got to the deer overnight. I have never had the guts to leave a deer/elk overnight. I have heard of too many bad stories of meat rotting and animals tearing it up. But, I have also spent many nights working into the night making sure I got back to camp, always with a smile on my face! :)

Great buck. Very well deserved! You have got to mount that thing so you can be reminded of such a great hunt every time you look at it.

Great story; loved the pics that went along with each phase. I "new" you were ready for the long shot. (sorry could not resist the type O)

Congrats. I give credit to anyone who does it alone.

Sometimes you can be so out of fuel you can not take another step....I know.

Rough country and all the better for it. Do you hear of stories like yours in Iowa? No way.

When I think of where to hunt, I am more concerned about hauling out the meat (hopefully) than getting in to Onga.

Your safety ( and that is your own call) overrides protecting a carcass.
