deserthntr Report post Posted November 12, 2009 hey guys, i am trying to get my 14 year old buddy his first deer and him and his dad picked up a leftover in 36B, they have never hunted in there lives in az, his dad shot a eastern whitetail somewhere back east when he was in the military, but other than that they have no hunting experience. i have never been in the unit so i am doing alot of looking for some good vantage points on google earth but would you focus on the nothern parts of the unit or souther, there will be 4 of us so if we should go closer to the border we will be fine and arent worried, thanks for any tips in advance
BigBfever Report post Posted November 12, 2009 the entire unit holds good deer population, finding water holes will be a good starting point. Chavez Siding exit hang a right and head north on the frontage road about a 1/2 mile or so to the access point. You'll find it on G&F web site, take the road all the way back till you get into some good hills there is a tank back there with some good vantage points around it. I don't hunt that area anymore but there's always bucks running around in there. Good luck
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted November 12, 2009 Dont do Chavez siding, there will be a million and one people, believe me. What hunt do they have (assuming the Thanksgiving hunt). Also, what days will they have off? I might be able to out for a day and help get a buck.
