wtmtnterror Report post Posted November 10, 2009 I just wanted to get the word out there to everyone after hearing about another member here who recently lost a tree stand and camera. From what I can determine my trail camera was stolen sometime between Oct. 30 and Nov. 8 I had a Bushnell Trophy cam in a heavy duty camlockbox with two python cables and a carbide lock, whoever did this had the right tools for the job. My brother also had a Moultrie camera grow legs in the same general area around the Oct. 1. I do believe that this was the work of the same individual because of the proximity between my cam and GonePointing’s gear that was stolen. It is a sad day when you can’t even trust your “fellow hunters” to keep their hands off what doesn’t belong to them, although I wouldn’t even put this person in the same class as most honest hunters that I know. TEAM JESUS Report post Posted November 10, 2009 I know it is to late but ever thought of setting up a very hidden camera up looking at your other camera. Cost may be an issue but you'll be able to post a picture and someone might even know them from this site. Turn the night vision off. Especially if you set up in the same area. You could even make a guille type cover to set on the ground???

Coach Report post Posted November 11, 2009 Dang - 23 seems to be especially bad for this crap. I sure hope someone finds this "fellow hunter" and gives him a lesson in ethics he won't soon forget. Very sorry to hear about yet another loss to the camera theives.
GonePointing Report post Posted November 11, 2009 I think the idea of a camera looking at the camera you are using for game is a great idea. I will try this next time. I am sure there is little I would be able to do either way but if I get a pic of the crook you can be assure that I will plaster their photo everywhere. Guest DaRut Report post Posted November 11, 2009 I was on another forum rutnhard.net and one of their members got their cam stolen and the guy who owned the cam actually tracked the thief down and video recorded his face and posted it. I guess the thief got scared and pulled out a gun on this guy so all he really could do is video record the guy and his accomplise. Pretty cool story, now everybody knows what the thief looks like. Later a monster buck 200 plus inches was killed in that area within 800 yards from where the trail cam was placed. Its sad to hear another cam got stolen but sooner or later they will get caught if all of us guys who place are cams get a little more sneaky like placing hidden cams etc. I would go place another cam in there a cheaper one and set up another one watching that cam I bet the thief or thiefs return and take that one too and then you would have a pic of him. Good Luck!!
