A man in the wilderness

Recommended Posts

Well, things are coming together a little bit more positively for me, and my Unit 27 November archery bull hunt starts on Friday the 13th  , even though I will not be going until the 17th, at least I will be able to make it on the hunt.

Just trying to get pumped up for 10 glorious days of wilderness archery bull elk hunting adventures that will test my super ninja stalking abilities to the extreme ;)

I will be up there from 11-17 thru 11/26, if any of you are in the area just look for a 99 silver dodge ram single cab with the CWT.Com sicker on the back window, stop in and chat if you have time. I should be at Strayhorse for the first few days and maybe move around from there.

Here are a few pics from the past to add to the flavor.

Best of luck on your hunt. Unit 27 is an incredible hunt unit!

Bring your long johns- it's gonna be a cold one!

Hope to see some pics of bull on the dirt!

You mean "Primitive Area" right? :D Unless you're going to drop over into Bear Wallow. Nit-picking... I know.

That will be a fun and tough hunt for some great bulls.

I'm jealous!

 "primitive" is technically correct, but "wilderness" sounds more sexy!

With the warm weather we have been having in Tucson, I was wondering if it would be a warm hunt or not. Hoping for cold weather to keep them bulls from bedding to early.

It will be a tough hunt, but fun, hopefully!

Cold is coming and hopefully some moisture with it! Make sure you have the truck winterized as well as yourself.

Mine too! I have hunted up there since the late 70's, it is always my first choice. I am still trying to get a handle on the elk hunting up there, because it is hard to get the experience, when it is so hard to get drawn. But I have taken alot of deer and some bear out of 27.

Can't wait to get up there!

27  ! Thats were deer hunting and all hunting started for me! I love it up there. So many different areas to go and elevation styles to choose from. Hopefully will be up there next year going after Mulies again or maybe Elk for a first time. Yeah its hard to get Elk experiance when its so dang hard to get drawn for to begin with. Good Luck!

For those of you that said you might stop in the area, If I am not at Strayhorse, I may be a few miles south at Burnt Corral or Hagan, depending on how crowded it is around Strayhorse. If the elk are not coming off the top yet, I may also camp up on #54, after the first few days.

This is the time of year when the rifle hunters and outfitters start setting up and parking trailers to reserve their future spots

P.M Sent.

Brent,

Only 3 more days to go for you :D . That lingering heat seems to have slipped out of the state, so enjoy the coolness and have a great hunt being either "primative" or "wild" :o in your area.
