DUG Report post Posted October 14, 2009 Warn is one of the better names. But it is top dollar. Harbor Freight has Chicago Electric winches but I only saw 10k lbs. Not sure of price but probably under 5 bills maybe even around 400. A guy I know swears by them and he has done a lot of winching.
cjw2222 Report post Posted October 14, 2009 If you plan on using it fairly frequently and relying heavily on it then i wouldnt go with anything than a Warn. I used to build XRAA buggies for competitions and have been on too many wheeling trips to count and have seen nearly every winch fail save Warn. I know they may not be the cheapest but when its times when you actually need your winch that youll appreciate peace of mind. just my .
azhuntnut Report post Posted October 14, 2009 Gino. You could probably get by with just a Mile Marker for the amount you will be using it. I have had a couple in the past on my polaris and my truck with no issues. Add a good bag with all of the goodies for winching; expecially a good snatch block and straps, and you should be good. I also have a place where I can get a good price on one if you want to PM me. David http://www.4wheelparts.com/shoppingcart.aspx
PSEps Report post Posted October 15, 2009 MILE MARKER. We do a lot of wheelin and they will out pull a warn any day, and cant beat the price.
AZbowhunter109 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 Gino, If you want the best, I would go with a Ramsey RE 12,000 lbs winch. Almost all of the flat bed tow trucks use Ramsey winches. It will out last your hunting vehicles and if you go with receiver style mounting system it is easy to transfer to different vehicles. I would check out craigslist, classified ads or e-bay for a winch. That’s my 2 cents. Gary
