UNIT 1 Help

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone can tell me if there are areas off of Stone Creek Rd in UNIT 1 that you can pull a Travel Trailer in and camp. My sons youth hunt starts next Friday and I have not had any time to get up there and scout. We plan on going up this week and staying but I would like to know if there is camping available. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

There are some nice places off of the road leading into Hulsey lake. No facilities but easy access from off of the highway heading towards Springerville from Alpine.

Coming in from the US 191/180? There is a nice spot about 7-9 miles in that is popular on the right side. You won't get very far pulling a trailer coming in from the Alpine side. Good luck on your son's hunt.

just a little note since i do not know a single unit 1 hunter this year. at least for mule deer.

the area around sierra montosa along hiway 60 would be GREAT place to look for a MATURE mule deer buck or three....like 10 years of MATURITY.....

good luck

We will be camping off the 273 by Lee Valley somewhere. Good luck with your son.

The forest service re surfaced the road last year you should be able to get a travel trailer down that road. There are quite a few spur roads off the main road that you could probably get a trailer in. good luck on your sons hunt

Had a blast but didn't end up getting one. We were camped at one of the trail heads into Mt. Baldy but hunting off of FR 409. Saw elk every day just had some bad luck with some dads teaching his kids to hunt out of the bed of their truck. My boy took 3 shots but I feel his lack of practice out to 250 yards hindered his ability to connect. We were set up about 60 yards from a heavily traveled spot but didn't get lucky enough for the elk to come in that close.
