San Carlos Lake 9/19

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, decided today to head to San Carlos Lake today (since no one wanted to let me tag along elk hunting). Got on the water around 6:20 a.m. Took about an hour to figure out what color the fish wanted. Ended up catching 21 bass with the largest being 3 lbs. Fished for crappie for about an hour before coming off the lake. Marked crappie almost everywhere I went but couldn't get them to bite. Ended up with only 1 crappie. Caught the bass on dropshot with a gulp shakey worm in a red/black color. Got off the water at 11:00 am. Had a good time. One other note. The lake is down to 4%. If you are heading to the lake be very carefull on the water. One spot in the middle of the lake out from Willow Springs Cove a hump comes up and is only 8' deep. If the water continues to fall that will be a lower unit killer.

Sorry no pics. I have a problem of taking the camera fishing with good intentions of using it, but nearly always come home without a pic. I guess I need to take a few lessons from Doug/RedRabbit.

Thanks for the update Brian. I've always been a Spring fisherman, but obviously you've found out how to make the best of the Summer and Fall months too - hat's off to you bro.

I have a phobia about taking cameras in boats. I once ruined a cell phone because I forgot I'd put it in a bottom pocket. Not taking a camera in the boat doesn't work so well if you release your catch.
