World Record Question

Recommended Posts

look at the pope and young website. i went there not to long ago and wanna say it was like 130ish maybe a little lower but its somewhere in the high 120's to 130. that 133 deer that got shot should be the new record.

Thanks Couescrazy33, I looked it up and it is 124 0/8. So the one that was 133 to 135ish guided by Wards Outfitters should smash the old world record right?

Using the measurements that Amanda posted, I added to 127 2/8 net NT. Suspect there will some shrinkage during the 60 days.

The buck that was 133 was big but not big enough after shrinkage during the 60 day waiting peroid it is going to end up being around the current world record. also deductions from the velvet.

The score after 60 days will not matter if it or any deer becomes the world record. The final score will be determined by a P&Y Panel Committee at the next recording period convention. The velvet will also have to be stripped to be considered a world record according to P&Y.

This is a great question.

In order for the Ward buck to be considered for the world record they would first have to strip the velvet and then wait 60 days to score it. That would only be a temporary score until the spring of 2011 when P&Y has there biannual convention where the buck would be panel scored. Some of you are saying P&Y does take bucks in velvet and, yes they do but there is a catch. If you enter a buck in velvet into P&Y they do not list it with the current ranked bucks it will be listed in the newest P&Y book under the velvet category. The buck would not be published in any other books after that. Velvet animals are not considered for the all time book. The state book allows you to enter velvet bucks in it but they take 2.5% deduction after the 60 day drying period.

Hope this helps

Brian
