June Report post Posted September 3, 2009 I don't even know what I would do if I sat in a blind or treestand. I think I would need to have a barrel of monkey's to past the time though.
Arizona Griz Report post Posted September 3, 2009 On my recent hunt in New Mexico I sat 5 continuous days 13 hours each. I now know every thing about my GPS. It was the only the only thing I brought to pass the time.
AZantlerhead Report post Posted September 3, 2009 Hand held electronic games from wally world..... Just don't forget to turn the sound off This one interests me as long as it's not Tetris, then i'd be yellin at the woods in frustration. Poker i think i could enjoy without takeing to serious. Amanda's staple in a miniature Bible is also one i'll have too use. These too ideas along with My Louis La'Mour will work best for me. And like, watching for game, duh. Probly take some naps after I get older and calm down some more.
capt88 Report post Posted September 3, 2009 It is interesting to read everyones ideas. I have usually been to type A to sit still for very long in a blind but yesterday I gave it a shot. I sat from 9:00am to 5:00pm. I didn't have anything come in until almost 3:00. At 3:30 3 fork horn bucks came in for a drink. I video taped them instead of wacking one. Pretty cool to watch the at 20 yards. Needless to say I will be sitting in my blind again despite how hot and bored I was. I played the game on my phone until the battery was almost dead. I will have to get me video poker or soduko to pass the time for my next trip.
standman Report post Posted September 3, 2009 I play games on my ipod or watch all the movies that I have on my ipod. I put one ear piece in and leave the other one out so I can hear what is going on outsite. Reading will put me to sleep so I don't do that. The one thing I haven't figured out is how to hook up the ac and generator to the blind without spooking all the deer Working on it though Brian

hoghntr Report post Posted September 3, 2009 on third morning of all day blind sitting this year i lasted about 30 minutes before pushing chair aside and taking a good nap. WELL MAYBE TOOOOO GOOD. i woke up to elk running past me in single file line with 10 seconds between each of them. one side of blind was squaking in desperation the other side was silent and planning their attack on me i believe. i thought back to the wake up and realized the old sleep apniea helped get those elk on their way. "zzzzzzzzz" they dont like snoring i guess. and when i checked camera later that day i had 1/2 dozen gobblers in front of blind during NAP time ALSO. moral of the story is dont loose your reading entertainment the night before in the dark while packing out!!! BML Report post Posted September 3, 2009 I spent 20 hours in my blind over 4 days before I tagged out. I did a TON of texting and surfing the web via the blackberry. I played some games, but quickly realized that I was paying for too much attention to the game and not enough attention to what was going on around me. Another thing I also learned is that I didn't want to be overly comfortable. When I am too comfy I fall asleep real quick!!

king4wd Report post Posted September 4, 2009 I really enjoy listening to louis L'amour books on my ipod. I also listen to gunsmoke and the lone ranger. It keeps me entertained and allows me to keep my eyes on the prize.
tjhunt2 Report post Posted September 4, 2009 I spend most of my time being alert to what's going on around me, which is hard to do since you can't see as good as from a tree stand. I keep myself in shooting position with bow on my lap or standing against my leg. Most of my situps are 15 to 20yrds. I have thought of buying one of those ipods but still haven't. I enjoy the piece and quiet and find this time to reflect back on life's expiences, time spent with family and friends, and thanking the Lord for the opportunity at hand. I just spent 10 days on this archery deer hunt totalling up close to 85 hours. I find it hard to stay all day in the blind with family and friends in camp because I enjoy spending time cooking and helping out as much as the actual hunting itself. After everyone has gone home I get servious and put in mostly all day hunts from before daylight til dark in my blind. I keep only my shooting window open with a couple netting windows cracked. Wearing black is a good idea but any dark clothing works. I take along frozen water bottles during the heat and use them to cool off my body while sitting there and always have a cold drink as they melt. Good luck to everyone on the rest of the season.
