Guest 300ultramag. Report post Posted September 1, 2009 Well I finally met a fellow CWT.com member this past weekend in flagstaff..... My brother and I had just finished up scouting and were looking for a place to camp for the night. While driving through the forest we found a camp.. a quad was out and a fire was burnin so we opted to stop in and see how the deer huntin had been... Turns out to be a really cool guy... so we camped just outside his set up.. Hope he didnt mind.... We shared a beer, a few stories and called it a night. Through out the night the camp that we had imposed on was filling up and soon our camp setup was surrounded by trucks and people we didnt know.... The next morning we packed up camp and hit the hills to scout... We agreed when we got back for lunch we would move our camp down the mountain and not to impose. Well while looking for some four legged creatures we stumbled upon a buck. My buddy had made a great shot on the buck and we made it back to camp a little earlier then expected. When we got there our "new buddy" was still out hunting and we were in a camp of complete strangers... Can you say awkward!!! So we kind of snuck in camp and piled up some stuff, thats when a stranger made his way over and asked "you guys ok, anything wrong" "why you back so early"... well he found out about our luck and soon he was offering up his camera (all we had were cell phones) so we did some high fives and some pics and moved on to the skinning.... I had just about set up all my gear to quarter out the buck, and this guy shows up again with gloves, knives, rope, chain and a hoist... I was like holy cow this guy is pretty dam nice. Thats when the knife came out... (what a stud) this guy had the deer skinned and quartered before I had my gloves on.. we were taken back by his kindness and offerings so we offered up the fruits of our labor. Some meat. He refused but kindly offered to grill up the tenderloins for us and we agreed.... (nothing like fresh venison on ice then grilled and pepper... mmmm) While enjoying lunch and telling the story about the shot... it turns out hes a member of CWT. I was like man were in good company Im staying the whole dam weekend up here.. So we camped... shot a little and just enjoyed the comaradarie (sp?) Sh!t even the guys dog was cool.... Well the next day I got home I shared my experience with my family and it turns out 10 years ago this guy also helped my brother out on a kaibab hunt... my brothers exact words were " this guy took me in and helped me like he was my own dad". and they also just met... small world I know all the young bucks on here personally... ryan, chrissy, napoleon etc. but that was from workin at SW. But it was cool to meet a member outside of work.. So any ways thanks Shotgunsniper! Your a class act.... I cant remeber If we thanked you or not so Thanks.. AZantlerhead Report post Posted September 3, 2009 Awesome Commradery right there . A brother(and sister) hood we hunters are . Good too hear those stories. Maybe I should post this in another topic(feel free to move this important post if needed Amanda), but theres another not so good thing going on these days..... If I may ramble a bit.... Hunterdude, I've not yet met another member afield either. But allways invite fellow hunters I meet afield to join CWT. Most have actually visited the site. I tell them there are all kinds of good people on here, and they should join In fact allot of folks in rim country and north are purely ignorant of what a Coues deer is and think they are just genetically challenged eastern whitetails I take my time to fill them in on this whole other species, it's unique habitat and range and the thrill of tagging one and their majestic beauty. On another note, something to consider Amanda. The blatant degradeing of MULE DEER on this site by some members deters allot of dedicated AZ hunters from joining who otherwise would..... . I have thick skin so it doesn't bother me. I actually know the truth that one hunted species is no better than the other and close minded hunters who hunt a single species there whole life are simply limiting themselves, their experiences, and their knowledge and skills, not to mention travels and fellow hunters of all walks. As well it's just not right to degrade any of God's magnificent beasts. IMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel the same disgust hearing guys up here bash the beloved Coues Whitetail . And feel sorry for these folks who stay on one side of the fence . theres no fences in my mind............ A simillarity would be a "Biker" who bashes guys who either ride Sport bikes or Harleys and bashes the other group every chance they get. A TRUE Biker, has a love for all motorcycles and respect for all Riders. Now apply this synopsis to the hunting world, get my point? But yes, some people are close minded and limit themselves and that will not change. For the most part I get great enjoyment from ALL the member posts, Regardless of what they limit themselves too. For I take the knowledge and good points from it all. For I am a HUNTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and not a " _____-Hunter". My 50 cents . I like all you fellas and fellerettes so no one take these words personal please. But if you do or just simply have a rebutal, bring it on, I'm spoiling for a good debate. And i'm sure I can convince you of your closeminded ways..........................Or, if you agree with me please say so. I just see a divideing line between Hunters that bash other hunters for hunting another species or for useing another weapon and don't care for it.... It's one thing too be an enthusiast of something, it's another to degrade people and animals for not being exactly what you limit yourself too.
COUESAZ Report post Posted September 4, 2009 I have killed plenty of Mule Deer in my life and prefer to hunt Coues deer. They are not even close to the same kind of hunting. The name of Carp first started to the fact they live in the low land and thus became known as Bottom feeders thus came the name of carp. Over on the rutnhard site they call coues Bluegill so be it. It just a little rib pokeing like we do to the Wildcat fans around AZ. But I do agree we need to be as nice as we can to others in our group as hunters. As far as this post you have going here. I hope you had a good time with shotgunsniper. Most guys I know would have done the same thing. When a man talks to a lady like he has to Amanda in his profile. He aint worth a spit in my mind. GameHauler Report post Posted September 4, 2009 Anthead (sp?) JK You are very right but 99% of the carp stuff is just in fun Most of us have or will hunt carp and really love them also This is CWT.com so we have to poke fun at the guys who love them carp. just like most (some) Harley Bikers will make a jab at the rice burners. I think they respect them for being riders just as we do for being hunters. It is just human nature to tease sometimes

I think they respect them for being riders just as we do for being hunters. It is just human nature to tease sometimes Well, theres no gray area for me, hunting is just to sacred of a thing. Never did care for the belittleing and namecalling thing, either in disrespect of a hunter or his quarry. If you did this in my circle you might lose respect by not showing any........... And I was the kid in school that beat up the bullies. But I can see where you guys who are good friends might kid around a little, so you do have a point. But keep it in the pms. Yes, this is Coues Whitetail.com , not Mule deer bashing .com or Bash so&so .com And I hope that RutnHard.com does not become a Coues bashing site. The web site I'm working on will not be tolerateing any of this disrespect. or "teaseing" as some might call it. I mean I don't see umm bashing Muleys on Buckmasters or Bashing Blacktails on Monster muleys, right? This respect is what will seperate the smaller web sites from the More successful ones, or drive a succefull one like this downhill. This Awesome forum will only suffer with the more and more dissrespect I'm seeing . Just like some fear, it will become as viscous as some of the others and only be stuck with a few regulars who just never have anything nice to say. Just showing concern for this forum because it is my favorite place on the net , even next to my new site!! Goodnight and thanks for the talk GameHauler. coueskrazy Report post Posted September 4, 2009 Normally I would not get involved in these types of discussions, but where in the heck did this come from? A member is telling a story about a great experience he had and all of a sudden this guy starts bellyaching about another topic. One thing I have always liked about this sight is the fun everyone (most everyone now) seems to have with each other. Good times, right? I have learned in life that there are just some people who are going to be angry about everything. They take on subjects that they can look for the negative in just to argue. Life is too short. So hunt hard, have fun, teach the children about our lifestyle, and for some.....try Prozac.

So hunt hard, have fun, teach the children about our lifestyle, and for some.....try Prozac. This guy? You just don't know me yet. What's Prozac? Must be a good guide named Zack? . And yes, I take on subjects most are too ignorant or conservative to discuss and I do appreciate a good conversation about a topic most will " normally not get involved in". . But you are right , I should have started a new topic. I can see some may get confused when what they are reading transfers too another subject. Sorry I derailed your mind bud. It's so easy to be a "nuetral" and just follow the croud. I am a leader type, take on hard topics and don't beat around the bush, especially about who I'm speaking of.. Most are shocked when someone speaks the truth, and most can't handle it. Well from " this guy" Welcome to the site. Theres all kinds of great people here, with all kinds of personalities, makeing it a great melting pot of different hunters and conversations. "One thing I have allways liked" , just how long have you ben visiteing? Seems you have about 25 posts? Maybe you've ben on the sidlines judgeing everyone a while more without commenting or what? Glad too see you off the bench for a couple plays. See, I have a sense of humor as well, are you haveing fun yet? It was all about respect, my posts, it's no fun when theres no respect. You see? All kidding aside though, welcome to the site and feel free to chime in more often , NEWBIE!!! BTW, your Avatar is some great bucks. Wheres the posts? And again welcome. coueskrazy Report post Posted September 4, 2009 This is great. We have a guy who beats up bullies, who is extremely intelligent, ( even though he can't spell ), and is a leader of men. I think I've seen you in one of the comic books . Guess there is one in every crowd. I joined about 2 years prior to you, but it really doesn't matter how long someone has been a member does it? Your right, I don't know you. Your also right, I don't post must. Probably because I have yet to run across something this trivial. dang it you sucked me in . anyway, good luck on any hunts you might have. Speaking of avatars, what did the buck in yours score? very nice buck.
AZantlerhead Report post Posted September 4, 2009 Thanks for the compliments, I think. yes I rarely check my spelling. I'm glad we can see eye to eye for the greater cause. Thanks about the buck, my first Coues. 117 7/8, 113ish net? I've been known to underscore antlers though . I drew the same Oct hunt this year and I'm hopeing for something similar with the old smoke pole. What about some pics and #'s for yours? Maybe a story? You have just made a friend.
