GameHauler Report post Posted August 30, 2009 This fire is about 5 miles North of my house It started in the valley in the right of the pictures. (Water Wheel camp area) Within 20 minutes it had made a run up the hill to the top and continues traveling west along the Little Diamond towards Geronimo Estates. If you are familiar with the areaa the fire is directly above Beaver Valley to the north. Beaver Valley and Whispering Pines have been evacuated and I believe they are getting ready to evacuate Verde Glen and the Washington Park area which means it must have jumped the Control road which is on the back side of the hill. Last picture is threw my 15's

GameHauler Report post Posted August 31, 2009 Hope this is a good sign Looks like it is making a run well into Hells Half Acres That would be bad for Geronimo Estates an Flowing Springs. More so for G.Estates as it would be a uphill run to them.
Red Rabbit Report post Posted August 31, 2009 Mike, Were they able to get any slurry bombers and sky cranes on it this afternoon? Keep us posted on what you hear. Doug

GameHauler Report post Posted August 31, 2009 Doug I did see the Slurrys drop about 5:30 but from what a friend told me (Hearsay) They have to go to Winslow to reload and he had heard it takes either 45 minutes or 1Hour 45 minutes to make the round trip. There is one small helicopter working it but they just can't haul much water. Just a second ago I heard on the radio the have pulled off the air attack since night fall is here. If anyone wants to hear updates they can hit the web and type in KMOG Radio. They are simocasting (Spelling) on the web. As normal the winds have died down and now the breeze is sinking back to the valleys We are starting to get allot of smoke here Here is a pic of where they are turning traffic around about a half mile past my house. Hard to even see the flashing lights. Think my wife is going to go stay with Firstgirl tonight in town and hope it is better there New update as I was typing: A type 2 team is on seen and will work through the night on structure protection
Red Rabbit Report post Posted August 31, 2009 Mike, I figured most aircraft, if not all, would have gone to CA. Have heard from a firefighter that the Winslow supply was closed and they now fly out of Prescott. Doug
