Steelheads Report post Posted August 24, 2009 Good to see a few guys converted on opening weekend, but unfortunately I'm not one of them. Went to Unit 23, and saw plenty of elk, turkeys, and even a javelina, but no deer. "Murphy's Law" at its finest. I stalked within 30 yards of a cow elk just to practice, and that was exciting Guess I'll head back out this weekend, and hopefully see a few deer.
Eagle Eye Report post Posted August 24, 2009 I was up in 23 also, I saw a silver dodge ram with a sticker on the back of it. Was that you? I saw 6 does and 1 spike, turkeys, elk and a fox that snuck up behind me and was growling at me and startin to walk closer to me, scared the crap out of. When i first heard the growlin i was thinkin it was a bear or mountain lion and then i turn around and there was a fox 10 yards away just lookin at me and growlin at me. Used a rage broadhead and it put a big hole in the fox.

There were too many campers in the good spots, and I'm sure that's why the deer were ghosts.
