Anyone use a barrel donut/deresonator?

Recommended Posts

I will explain it:

Gun goes boom. With out donut, gun shoot bad groups.

Gun goes boom. WITH donut, gun shoot better groups.

To me, it doesnt really matter how they work as long as they do, ya know?

Thats the best explination Ive heard yet but I still wanna know why. Anyone see the pic of the guy on the sims sight shooting the 1000yd unlimited with a whole barrel full of em? Any ways after all the early elk hunt this year, Im gonna put some Retumbo to use and slap on a deresonator.

More than you and I probably want to read. (some google search results)

http://mistressatarms.blogspot.com/2008/05...-harmonics.html Video clip showing whip

Figure that the Sims barrel "kong" works similar to the Browning BOSS

I put one on my 300 win mag for one day. I shot 4-5 different loads and saw no difference in the groups it shot. The gun is heavy enough already. (11 pounds) so I gave the thingt away.

I tried it and it made my shots place differently on paper. Not smaller just differently. pre- my shots would stack one on top of the other from bottom to top. post- the shots clover leaf. Again groups measure the same all other this being equal.

Work I don't know but it did something.

I see more and more of those. I haven't the need for one at this point. How much do they cost?

$17-18, going to try one on my WSM this weekend.

I want to try one of these now on my .300wm. I have it set up for longer range and havn't got the urge yet to replace the barrel with a heavy barrel so I still have the factory sporter. What can it hurt besides wasting some rounds?
