Recommended Posts

Ok heres the situation Ive been doing my homework, had cams set up on this spot for months done my homework patterned the deer and even set up my blind extra early no signs of any other human activity, went out one last time tonight and found out that someone has ut up a blind less than 100 yard from my cam and blind, what do you do? just get there extra early opening day and hope they abide by the first come first serve or what?

I would stick with the plan the first day. if you have done your homework then you know what the deer are doing, 90% of hunters only hunt a few hours and give up. hunt dark to dark and then access what impact they had with the history your scouting has shown you. good luck, you have put the time now it is time to be rewarded!

Don't let others affect your hunt or plans.... be the first one in and even if they do sit their blind, I'd not worry, too much..... you are not gunna shoot a deer at 100 yds anyhow. ;) Opening weekend of archery deer is like an archery speedgoat hunt in 19A....  ... You just gotta deal with the BS and hope your set up is in the right place at the right time! ;) Good luck to you and to all who are taking up the bow this w/e for some much needed R&R! May you all remember why you are out there.... what your basic reasons for being in the woods are and may you find success in the little things even if you are not fortunate enough to harvest a 'No Brainer'! ;)

In the mean time I'll be driving around putting out cameras, pissing off midday water sitters.... and counting the days till JANUARY 1st 2010!!!! :P Um... and in case you are wondering..... that is a pre-appology if I do drive up to the water you are sitting.... but I will have a cold one for you if I do! ;) :P :P  Good luck All!

hello - unfortunately we can't really uninvite other hunters from occuping a well known area - just because you found this spot doean't mean your the only one to know about it ! It is quite normal for all of you to park your vechiles with in the same area - - I've had people drive right past my truck- even though I was there first - and come in late and set -up - they did screw it up for me - they had no idea they spooked the deer -

I always carry spare paper and pen in my truck - and left them a note - thanking them for screwing up my hunt and since I now know their vechile and where they will be hunting - I'll be happy to return the favor in the very near future - not that i did but it's the thought that counts !

how'd you like to be set -up --camp -a week ahead of time in the best spot - and have someone come in and park their vechile next to yours and proceed to set-up camp- family and all with 30 yrds of your trailer/tent , the night before opening morning --

unfortunatly there will always be inconciderate hunters . who could care less about first come- first serve -- no matter where you go - Gary

A lot of hunters will have one or two or three spots set up, figuring others might be in their #1 spot. So he may not even be using that spot or it may even be for a much later hunt than Archery deer.

Also a lot of them do Bug out early.

Don't let it bother you, just wave nicely if he does show up. . . .

All i can say is that a 100 inch Coues' buck is not worth your life (or 10 years in the can).. Just be careful. We've all heard horror stories. And a bow is a deadly weapon so be careful on your word choices and actions. There's always more bucks in the next draw....

I'd just get to my spot early and hunt. If the guy (or gal ... have to be fair ... it could be a gal) is courteous, they'll move on to another spot. If not, just chock it up to the fact that there are some idiots out there and every once in a while we all run across them. AAA is right ... even a monster Coues isn't worth getting into a ruckus over. I always figure what comes around goes around and just try to do my part to do the right things.

Simple answer here; First come, first served. As I said, it's simple..... It's also the law on public ground.

The rhetorical question is; What will YOU do if you get there extra early and they are already there? ;) Hopefully you'll back-out and find a different spot if that happens (just as you would hope they do if/when the tables are turned....). -_-
