nvhunter Report post Posted August 19, 2009 I drew a coues tag for the Decmeber hunt in 31. I'm leaning towards Timberland Outfitters. Has anyone hunted with them before? I would appreciate any information on them, they seem to be good from what I can figure. Thanks

Tines Report post Posted August 19, 2009 nvhunter, Thanks for your inquiry. Lance is out of town for a week on some archery hunts so I thought I'd get a hold of a few of Timberland Outfitters' hunters and have them post something for you. They should have some information for you shortly. Unfortunately a couple of them aren't members of the site and it takes a little bit to become one. I'll post their resonse emailed to me as soon as I get them. Congratulations on your tag! Looking forward to hearing from you and if you have any questions, feel free to give me a call...... jeffcros Report post Posted August 19, 2009 If you're looking for a whitetail guide I would contact Matt with Borderland Adventures. He is one of the hardest working guides for his cliets I have ever met. Last year I missed shots at exceptional coues bucks (100+) with my bow and he never slowed down he just kept spotting more. Then helped me take a mulie in Dec. He also helped my son get his first spring turkey last year. Matt is the real deal!-Jeff
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted August 19, 2009 Timberland Outfitters is a sponsor of CouesWhitetail.com and in addition Lance and his family have been hosting the annual CouesWhitetail.com get-together up at Marshall Lake. You can't hardly meet a nicer family and I know from experience that Lance knows where the animals are and I am sure TLO would do an awesome job on a whitetail hunt for you. Tines is one of the guides with TLO, so you can ask him any questions you might have while Lance is out of town. I assume you checked out their website already? http://www.tlohunting.com/ I always hope you all will choose to support those that support this site and Lance has been a dedicated supporter of CouesWhitetail.com. Amanda P.S. Just as a reminder to everyone, please don't post contact info (websites, phone, email, etc) for non-sponsors as it amounts to free advertising. It's unfair to those that pay for advertising here. We have many quality outfitters that help support this site, check the main coueswhitetail.com page for a listing of sponsors. Tines Report post Posted August 19, 2009 nvhunter, "Hi. My name is TJ and I have hunted with Jake from TLO for the past two December hunts. He was a great guide and knew the area very well. While on both hunts Jake put us on many different whitetail and more 'wall hangers' than I have seen in a number of years. Jake was extremely prepared for the terrain, conditions and challenges that couse whitetail use to elude a hunter. He had great optics, rifle (if needed) and physical conditioning needed for reaching the amazing grey ghosts. I hear that they are pretty good on an elk hunt too. If I ever get a tag I will let you know how they do! I highly recommend Jake and TLO. You will not be disappointed. TJ 520-349-7248"
Tines Report post Posted August 19, 2009 "NV Hunter, or anyone considering booking a hunt with Timberland Outfitters. I can say these guys are great, very honest individuals that do what they say and are very enjoyable to be around. I have had great hunting experiences with them in the past and wouldn’t change a thing about them or the hunt. I live in Indiana and they are currently advising me on the best places to put in for all my AZ hunts and I can’t wait to get back out there and hunt with them. I took my first coues deer with TLO and also shot my first javelina with my bow. Ben 812-483-6418 Here's my coues deer. This was an October hunt and what a fun time it was! Here's my archery javelina to boot! "
The Claw Report post Posted August 20, 2009 I know a lot of guys who could do a good job. A couple of them mentioned by JeffCros and 30-378 I can personally vouch for as top notch as I am sure the others are as well. Whoever you decide on in these economic times I would make sure you check references and the QUALITY of the reference. Also, I would want that outfitter to spend the most time scouting possible to maximize my hunt. Not all guides out there do this and rely on past knowledge. I would want someone who will GUARANTEE scouting time and show proof of that scouting to get real expectations before the hunt. That is not very hard to provide to the hunter this day and age and really we should demand that as consumers these days. Choosing a guide that has local connections to the area or is at least close in approximation would help assure this in my opinion cause costs to the outfitter are minimized then. These are all things I would consider, PERSONALLY. Don't know if all mentioned outfitters fall in that category but you have at least a few there that do. I would recommend calling each of them and asking them these questions to do due diligence.
