stanley Report post Posted August 19, 2009 QUEST, 36A is a decent unit. Based on his report, Vegasjeep knows some things that I know... Just like a lot of units, there are deer all over 36A. Kind of just depends on what type of terrain you like to hunt, and how far you are willing to trek off the road! Good luck there! If you glass like crazy, you'll see deer in that unit (again, like most units.... ). S.
QUEST Report post Posted August 20, 2009 stanley sound good. Do you see any snakes? What kind of bucks would be likely seen 80 BC?

stanley Report post Posted August 20, 2009 stanley sound good. Do you see any snakes? What kind of bucks would be likely seen 80 BC? Likely???? Depends on your glassing skills!! That's a loaded question! We all know that there are 80 inch bucks in EVERY unit! What kind of bucks would you likely see in 36A? My answer would be ALL sizes! Just like ALL units in the state, you'll probably see more spikes/forks. It's just the way it is. Scout and glass, and then you may find a bigger buck! Snakes??? Sure..... Yes, I've seen snakes. No more than any other unit I would think though.... Good luck! S.
joeybari Report post Posted August 20, 2009 hunt the west side of the unit harder to get to but well worth it
QUEST Report post Posted August 20, 2009 Just trying to get a feel for the unit stanley. We hunted unit 34A last year and we saw 3 bucks that were in the 70-80 range. There was a lot of does. It's not a big deal for me to harvest a buck but I would like to get my wife one. Last year I was able to put her on her first buck, a spike. I then mounted it for her and entered it in our taxidermy show and got a 2nd place ribbon in the open division. I could post a pic but I'm still trying to figure things out. All info is well appreciated. quest
stanley Report post Posted August 20, 2009 I hear you QUEST! Didn't mean to be a smart-butt! Sincere good luck to you. I'm thinking that if you can get out for a couple of days prior to the season, you'll likely find some good looking spots. Any spot that looks good in that unit, likely IS good! PM me and I can give you another detail or two if you would like. Joeybari had some words of wisdom you should consider if you don't mind hiking off the road a bit further than the average hunter! QUEST Report post Posted August 20, 2009 stanley it all sounds good to me. I'll take you up on the Pm. I'm still learning how to do things on here. how do you post any pics and how do you PM? Another problem we have is were going to Wyoming in Sept for mule deer and a doe antelope hunt and we don't have much time but I can check things out later if I have to. QUEST Report post Posted August 31, 2009 vegasjeep its about 36A. I have hunted 34A and did see some nice bucks there. I was more interested on getting my son a buck and my wife hers. I was able to put my son on 3 bucks. One was a spike the other two were three points. Then I manage to get my wife on her buck a spike. I was ready to go home when my wife said lets hunt one more place and we did. I seen another 3 point about 300 yards out but the son was in a bad place and block my view through my scope anyway I let him go. Oh well. quest
WHT_MTNMAN Report post Posted August 31, 2009 36a is a good unit. Lots of scouting and glassing will pay huge dividends. Most of 36a has easy access by quad or UTV's. Look for places you have to walk you will do better. You will have no problem finding small bucks and does/fawns, but it can be difficult to locate bigger bucks without lots of preseason scouting. Good luck.
QUEST Report post Posted September 1, 2009 WHT_MTNMAN thanks for the info. I was thinking of checking out the north west area.
