Snapshot Report post Posted August 17, 2009 I heard somwhere that the malay gap hunt is mostly a migratory hunt, with very few resident bulls until the snow pushes them into the area, which is why they have those late ifle hunts? It is also an area that you can get stuck in very easily with deep mud from rain and snow.

buglethemin Report post Posted August 17, 2009 I just spent the last 11 days hunting bear, all around the maylay gap area, Freezout Mtn, BS tank, grapevine, tank, cox coral, Harrington, and Mcdonald tank ect did not see one single elk in the maylay gap area, seen plenty near dry lake, black mesa, and soldier hole, but those areas are not in the Maylay gap, good luck on the hunt. ptowns Report post Posted August 18, 2009 I have hunted Malay Gap on the January Hunt. If the snow has pushed thae elk down it is good. Accessability is the problem. The snow and mud can make it nearly impossible to get in to hunt. Phil
