Webber Report post Posted August 15, 2009 Went to Gila outdoor today to pick up my new Reezen that just came in. Marcy the owner took it right out of the box and put my arrow rest and the string loop on she got everything level and lazered, then put it in a press just to put my drop away rest string through the cable. Thats when it happened she put it on a hook to pull it down to check my rest and the bow string just exploded !!poor her i thought it hit her face but just got her sholder or chest. I'm glad she didn't really get hurt bad i've never seen a bow string break but have seen bows blow up and not break the string. I just think it's weird that it blew up brand new!!! She apologized that it blew up i told her not to worry about it and just was asking her if she was oK, she's probably gonna be a little gun shy now i know i would. hunterdude Report post Posted August 15, 2009 What was the "REEZEN" ? That sucks! Almost makes you double think your thoughts on the bow !
BASS Report post Posted August 15, 2009 Yikes that is kind of strange. I know I would be gun shy of shooting that bow for a while after it was fixed. I had a peep sight tube come off the cables once and smack my face. For a long time after that I would close my eyes as I drew the bow back.
SilentButDeadly Report post Posted August 15, 2009 On my first hand-me-down bow the pin through the top cam broke down, the cam slipped off as I shot and the arrow broke as it passed the riser. I was SUPER lucky not to be stabbed by the arrow, or have the cam whip down through my body.
couesridge Report post Posted August 16, 2009 i had my bow blow up on me last year and took an arrow thru the forearm and that was my first shot with it at the range OUCH !!!
Coues Archer Report post Posted August 16, 2009 Hopefully it wasnt worse like breaking a riser or cam. It can be replaced really easily.

Oak Report post Posted August 16, 2009 Arrow through the forearm? OUCH!! The thought of a carbon arrow coming apart when shot has always worried me. I'm sure you have all seen this photo before:
BASS Report post Posted August 16, 2009 This is the wrong thread to be reading, and looking through when I'm starting to shoot my bow more often getting ready for the hunts.
bowsniper Report post Posted August 16, 2009 That's a bummer, glad she is ok. My first bow, a pse, blew up when I was in full draw. It takes a while to get over it. Mark

galiuro mountain man Report post Posted August 20, 2009 Good luck, one recommendation is to get a high quality, or custom string for your bow. I can tell you why I think this has happened, but I dont want to start any arguments. Where did the string break? I would like to know because this isnt the first report of this from the Reezen or Monster with stock strings, and I want to see if it is the same cause as the rest of them.
