1985 Jeep Cj7

Recommended Posts

1985 AMC Jeep Cj7

Parting with my baby, I’ve had this jeep for 16 years. I am scared to figure out how much I have into it. It is not pretty, but it solid and reliable.

Here’s a start:

Less than 8000 miles on the following:

New crate motor (258 inline 6)

Rebuilt transmission (5 speed)

Rebuilt transfer case

Centerforce clutch

Custom driveshafts front and rear

Detroit locker in rear

Trac-loc limited slip in front

One-pieces rear axle shafts

4:56 gears

Custom braced rear axle

Cepek shocks

Rancho 2 ½” lift springs

Cepek 1 5/8” shackles

Milemarker locking hubs

Starts on first crank, everytime. Runs about 55 on the highway. Will crawl up and over your house.

Most recent stuff:

New exhaust front to back

Brand new carb

Less than 300 miles on Goodyear Wrangler M/T’s (one was defective, when I returned it, they had just slightly changed the tread pattern, you have to really look to notice)

The bad news:

Interior- Huh???

Stereo- ready for one!

No carpet

No rear seat

No console

Seats- Bestop buckets, have seen better days

Top-wore-out bikini top and Bestop full soft doors

This jeep had California emissions equipment on it, it sucked. I removed it. It has never ran better, even when new. It will not pass emissions. I live in Santa Cruz county, doesn’t matter to me. Will matter to some.

The good news about that, it turns 25 years old this fall and will be an EXEMPT HISTORIC vehicle. So, it’s good to go!

Body Damage

Rocker panels-still there (wrinkly)

Hood- was unlatched and flew up at about 45mph-creased pretty good

Been laid down on passenger side once-minor dents and rearview mirror missing (Just rolled it back over with a High-Lift and off I went)

Other stuff:

Tuffy storage boxes on rear fenders, hold 6x9 speakers and gear.

This Jeep is pretty basic, but tough as nails

Asking $4250

I am selling because I bought a Toyota Fj80 to haul the wife and kid around in, its a little more comfy, and fits a carseat for the toddler a little better.

OR

Will trade for a high quality 4 wheeler, plus cash. Not interested in anything in particular, but need a quad, so let me know what you’ve got.

One stipulation on the quad, it must be less than 47 ½” wide.

(thanks, Gamehauler and TwoGuns)

Located in Rio Rico, AZ. 40 miles south of Tucson. Let me know if you need addtional pics or info. If someone was serious, I can get this jeep just about anywhere in the state. In the next 3 weeks I will be in the White Mountains,Flag, Prescott, and PHX areas and could trailer it along with me.
