I had this hunt last year in 36b. I actually liked it quite a bit because there wasnt hardly anybody out there hunting! Not to mention, I had the biggest buck I have ever seen during the season in my sights, it just didnt work out. I hunted it like any other hunt. I found though, that the bucks were more in the shade in the morning then the sun, which I found odd.

Their necks were a little more swoll up compared to October hunts. Not big fat ruttin necks, but th eone I shot had a nice, thick neck on him.

I still saw bucks with bucks, but the little bucks were starting to wrastle with each other. The buck I killed had green stuff in his horns like he had been rubbing trees.

The buck I had in my sights, but couldnt get a shot at was a solid 105" buck and was with a 85 +/- buck and a spike.

I'll give my quick .02 about this hunt. I've spent some time hunting the late Nov hunt and I really liked it. There's potential for fantastic weather which is always a plus no matter which hunt you have. That being said, this is NOT a December hunt.

Recently a pet peave of mine has been people who tell me that they drew the "late hunt" or the "december hunt".......then after chatting with them a little longer, turns out they actually drew late NOVEMBER hunt. But for some reason some hunters think that because it runs into the first couple days of December, it's a late hunt. Like mentioned before, this is NOT a December hunt..

Not to discourage ANYONE who has this tag because like I mentioned before, I really did like it. In fact, next to an ACTUAL December tag, this may become my next favorite. Time will tell, I guess...

Great hunt, IMO. But far from a LATE December tag...

I have this hunt also. It was my second choice. Last year I put in for the late hunt first and then the first hunt. Late hunt of course because of the rut and first hunt, of course for the first crack. But with that bein said, from hunting the Oct. hunt last year, Ill pass up the first crack, for better temps. It was frickin hot out there. I never am right next to a road, so my hiking is fairly extreme. First, having enough water was a big issue for me, second, the deer movement was next to non-exsistent. Not that I didnt see any bucks, just that the opportunities were far less of seeing more. So with that being said, even though there are gonna be quite a few hunters out in the field before me, I know that the areas I hunt will still produce, I wont be sweatin my arse off (which makes me feel better in the field, and keeps me positive), deer movement will be much more positive, and I think Im gettin all excitied. WOOHOO!!
