desertdog Report post Posted August 6, 2009 I am getting ready to do some test loads for my .280 with the 154gr Hornady SST. I was wondering if anyone has one that is working well for them. I am looking to get around the 3000fps mark. I will be shooting my Ruger M77 Mark II. Just looking to save a little time if you know what I mean. Thanks, DD
Red Rabbit Report post Posted August 6, 2009 My first rifle was a 280 Rem. I would try H4831, RL 19, or Ramshot Hunter. I figure that each rifle is an individual, so work up from scratch. Might look up the Audette Ladder load development method, and the OCW Optimal Charge Weight method. http://www.desertsharpshooters.com/manuals/incredload.pdf http://optimalchargeweight.embarqspace.com/# http://practicalrifler.6.forumer.com/a/ocw...ut_post363.html

RR, I am with you that each rifle is an individual. My dad and I each have a Ruger M77. Mine is stainless steel and synthetic stock. His is the classic blued and walnut stock. When working up loads after we bought them his consistently gets 100fps less than mine. I will give those powders a try. The load I am currently using is 150gr Sierra SP BT, 54.5 grains of AA4350, CCI250 primers, and Remington cases. I am getting 3050fps and great accuracy. But I would like to try the Hornady SST because of the higher BC. Thanks for the reply RR.
