BASS Report post Posted May 11, 2005 I have my trail camera set up way back in 5B North about 200 yards off of the road or so. I thought I had hid it well enough, to the point I had to leave a note in my log as to how many clearing I crossed to get there. Anyways, I guess a strong wind came along, and the strong tree it was on, decided to lay down. So when I went to find my pictures, I found my camera gone. I then looked over and saw it on another tree. When I opened the cover a small note card fell out. It read as follows... Hello, I hope you don't mind, but I stumbled along your camera, as it lay on the ground next to the tree that it was once mounted to. I then mounted it onto the tree it now hangs on for safe keeping. Hope you didn't get too many pictures of my mug, and get some great photos of animals instead. I was shocked that another person, way out in the middle of no where, found a camera laying next to a tree; and instead of putting it in their pack, they hung it back up with a note. I got really lucky this time, but am off again this weekend to put it in the same area, as I got a bunch of shadow photos as the sun set on the fallen tree. Oh well, I hope he has a great hunting season, and pray he bags a new state record for his actions.

BASS Report post Posted May 11, 2005 Hmm that's not a bad idea. I know there are no animals in 5B, but I was hoping to catch some pictures of the famous group of nesting birds that made the GFD run all the animals out into 22. So far I have a very nice roll of film of two hands, an ear, a couple birds, a rat looking thing, and a bunch of shadows. I'll try again this next weekend. I'll only get to be up there for Sunday, as I have a showing of my jeep at the Pavilions on Sat. night. I hope that I can get some good photos of something this weekend, as I'm about to go crazy from lack of hunting. I have been bathing in scent lock for the last week now. More D Report post Posted May 11, 2005 That is a great story! Thanks for sharing it with us. Too bad you didn't get a pic of him. That deserves a steak at least . You might try and leave a note on the same tree, he might hunt that area of the woods often??
TAM Report post Posted May 11, 2005 Azhuntnut, I think we're all quite aware that there are no animals in 5BN, but there is a very healthy population of Sasquach. I've only had the occasion of finding someone else's trail camera one time a few years ago before they were real popular. I left it there after it took a couple of pictures of me. A few weeks later I was flipping through a photo album of hunting pic's at Don's Sporting Goods in Scottsdale and noticed several pic's of the water hole I had visited weeks before. It turned out the camera belonged to one of the owners of the shop and we had a pretty good talk about the area and what kind of animals he'd been getting on his camera. He even remembered the pic's his camera had taken of me several weeks before. On the flip side of that I've had one of my cameras stolen last spring and my buddy has had a couple stolen as well, and nothing gets me hotter than people that steal stuff! Chances are most people that steal trail cameras are other hunters, and that's PRETTY SAD! Kudos to the guy that took the high road!
cramerhunts Report post Posted May 11, 2005 That is a great story and a rare one sadly. We need more sportsment like that whoever he might be, may he be blessed with good results this year!
BASS Report post Posted May 11, 2005 Yeah from about turkey season on, my camera is out there... somewhere. But as the season gets closer, the chain gets bigger, and the trees thicker, and the lock gets stronger too. I was so stupid for only mounting it with the included nylon strap.
