CouseforLife Report post Posted August 10, 2009 I also enjoy December hunts because of the cooler weather and I hate hunting when you have to hurry to get the hide off so it won't spoil. I have been out with other people on the early hunts and we saw deer. I see much more deer in the Dec hunts and hardly ever run across another hunter, unless it is someone I know. I have spotted some nice ones in early November and had them stay but mostly not. From what I have seen if there are quite a bit of does around, they will stick around in the general area. As for not rutting in Dec. at least in my expirence in 6A and 21 they seldom do before Christmas but after almost everyyear. That last week is usually when they get going. But that depends on the weather also. If we get a snow or good cold storm right around Christmas, man they get fired up. I love it when their necks look like they are on steroids. Reminds me of the Sat night skits with Hans and Frans. LOL!!!
