scottk Report post Posted August 3, 2009 I bought a .223 for my 9 year old and he shoots prairie dogs really well with it. Very nice rifle for the price. I think the only downside for him is its a heavy rifle. It has the bull barrel with a 6-18 and bipod on it. So I pack it to where we are setting up for him. hunterdude Report post Posted August 5, 2009 I have a .308 and it shoots really nice. It will shoot around 1" pretty easy. I haven't had a chance to load any rounds for it yet but it really likes federal premiums 3/4" or better out of it then!

Couesdeer Report post Posted August 24, 2009 Nothing wrong with the Howa 1500 (Mossberg, S&W, Weatherby Vanguard, and proabably a few others). All the same action and all capable of excellent accuracy.
