hawkeye Report post Posted August 2, 2009 I have been shooting a Mathews LX for several years now, but with some health problems and also me getting older I need to find a new bow with a better valley and back wall. I have been convinced that the Bowtech Admiral will fit my needs. My question is that I can purchase a used Bowtech General for about $450 and the Admiral will cost me at least $750 or more. Do any of you Bowtech shooters think I would be as happy with the General, or should I pony up the extra cash and buy the Admiral? Dave
Coues Archer Report post Posted August 2, 2009 I personally dont know much about bowtech but you should try out the true bow brand PSE!
deserthntr Report post Posted August 2, 2009 i havent shot either but i love bowtech, i think you need to go somewhere and shoot them both, decide which you like better, if you like the admiral better get it, or general get that one, just see which feels better. when i was deciding people from here said dont worry about what other people like, get what feels best and fits best for you

hawkeye Report post Posted August 2, 2009 I live a long way from any shops that carry them. That is why I was asking. I was hoping that someone here might have checked them both out. I will probably drive to the valley and try the bows out, before I buy one.

mulie hunter Report post Posted August 2, 2009 Bowtech makes good bows. But don't rule out Pse bows. I bought the 32" Pse Madness and love it.

uofahughes2 Report post Posted August 4, 2009 You mean BLOWtech right? As in they'll BLOW through what ever you shoot with them. Started shooting an 08 Guardian this year and so far I love it.
Red Rabbit Report post Posted August 4, 2009 What is it about the valley and wall of the LX that you do not like? In older age, are you looking for a smoother drawing bow, or a faster one with a harsher draw to get more speed at lower poundage? With many of the new speed bows, you cannot creep any without getting ripped out of the valley.
cbryant11 Report post Posted August 5, 2009 the admiral is an awsome bow, i bet you could find a used one online for the same price your looking at, and as far as speed bows go i would not consider that a speed bow, it is a nice smooth drawing quick bow. now my 82nd airborn is a speed bow that will rip your arm off if you creep just a little bit.......cbryant
hawkeye Report post Posted August 5, 2009 Red Rabbit, The problem I had is that there is no valley at all on the LX. When it breaks over I am against the wall and I have to keep pressure on the wall which makes me start to shake. My elk hunt is getting closer so I pulled the trigger today and went to the valley and bought a Bowtech Amiral. I spent the afternoon setting it up and I love shooting it. It has just enough valley that I can relax and aim. I am shooting much better groups. I will know how much I like it after I shoot it for a few days. Thanks a lot Dave
