hawkeye Report post Posted July 29, 2009 Alaska was pretty cool, but I fell in love with the Yukon. I would like to go back to the Yukon and explore for a month or two.
Chef Report post Posted July 29, 2009 Those are fantastic. Looks like you came across plenty of wild animals too. That's a lot of pics you took. That's awesome, I usually find myself not taking enough.
hawkeye Report post Posted July 29, 2009 We saw so many black bears in BC that we quit taking pictures of them. We would just sit and observe them.

AZP&Y Report post Posted July 29, 2009 Sweet pics for sure. Reminds me of so many trips I've had up there. I've been to Alaska 12 times and NEVER have gotten bored for a second. I always long to go back. I've never seen the Yukon, but that is on the list of North American Adventures. Thanks for sharing your experience through pics- Some of those AK roads are rough, tumbled and nasty. I almost dished a Dodge Intrepid once on my way to Fairbainks - drinking Alaskan amber... hawkeye Report post Posted July 29, 2009 I have always wanted to drive the Alaskan Highway and see the Yukon and Alaska. So when my wife and sister-in-law came up with the idea to go this summer, I fought it with all I had but they finally won and I gave in. It was a tough job but somebody had to do it. We packed up my 26ft Carrage trailer and my 04 Dodge 2500 Cummins and off we went. We spent all of June and some of July on the trip. We drove over nine thousand miles in just a little over a month. I want and will go back but only if I have 3 months to spend. And next time it will be during hunting season. Oh and also, I broke all four leaf springs on the trailer, driving the rough roads. In the midle of the Yukon we had to change a water pump on the Dodge. You wouldn't believe it but I had a new water pump with us.
cramerhunts Report post Posted July 29, 2009 Very cool pictures and I know just what you mean that you need more time to explore and just "look" around. I was and am completely amazed with the Yukon and all of its beauty. Also you nailed it with the rough and tumble roads that seem to stretch on for ever with pot hole after pot hole but its all worth it! Thanks again for sharing. hawkeye Report post Posted July 29, 2009 We were all over. We spent a couple of days in Fairbanks then spent a few days in Denali. Then we went down to Ninilchik and Homer. That is where we did some Halibut fishing. then we went over to seward then over to Copper Center. That is where we did some salmon fishing. Salmon fishing on the Kenia peninsula is called gorilla fishing. When the salmon are running every man woman and child is fishing. We had some fun but it wasn't for me. We then went to Valdez. The fishing was fun but I am a hunter at heart. My next trip will be for hunting. I loved exploring the Yukon. Most of the animal photos were taken in the Yukon. I just picked a few photos to post as we had taken over fifteen hundred. It cost us a couple of hundred dollars to have the photos printed. And that was after culling out a whole lot. Some of the most beautiful country I have ever seen was the Canadian Rockies, the Yukon and the six hour boat trip we took out of seward to some glaciers and whale watching.
