Huntaholic Report post Posted July 21, 2009 Here's some more footage to help pass the time. It sure would have been nice to get this buck. We found him from a mile or so away. Got within rifle range and had the cameras rolling only to have him slip away. At least we got some good footage out of it. Any guesses on what this buck might have scored? He was waiting for me to get the cameras ready so it was probably more my fault than his. The "CAMERA CURSE" bit me in the butt once again on this one. stalkincoues Report post Posted July 26, 2009 Oh man, that sucks big time! Even though I read your title "the buck that got away" I was blind sided and still was waiting for the shot any second. The only difference between you and I on that is I would have got the shot but would still have hit an unseen branch (which I have on video and still depresses me, I actually gave up hunting for a few months after that and thought I was done for good) , scope moved, got water in scope and caused reticle to droop, bullet stuck in chamber when shell was ejected causing gun to be unavailable in the field due to someone elses reloading, sling came apart and scope hit rock as I was throwing it over my shoulder and gun falling and putting HUGE dent in scope and getting multiple shots later in the seated position and nowhere close to buck, and many other things that have plagued and cursed me throughout the years . Great video and I was truely depressed to see that big boy turn and book, great buck for sure. I unfortuanately know all too well how you must feel, as I have experienced that more than I care to admit. Thank you for sharing your story and video!
