Wetmule;

I agree with you in principle. I am pretty guilty of this myself sometimes. I get pretty busy with the family and work and then volunteer time suffers. However whenever we (me and the family) are out and about we try to do little things to help wildlife, habitats, etc. I believe instilling this in the next generation is vital.

I once spent the better part of the day trying to track down the supervisor of rangers at White Tank Regional Park to let him know that people were accessing the northwest side of the park with quads and trucks and tearing the heck out of the terrain.

We (hunters) do hundreds of little things in the interest of wildlife and habitat every year. We also pay hundreds of millions into Pittman-Robertson Act and similar programs through all of our hunting/fishing purchases. So I don't agree that most hunters do little to nothing; but I do agree that, what we do isn't enough in this day and age. Just my 2-cents.

Looking forward to meeting some CWD members at the ADA meeting tomorrow night.

It is time to put in some payback for the enjoyment I have received from the sport. Talked to my usual hunting partner and he will be there too.

LATER.

There will be food at the meeting tonight, so if you are crunched for time and can't eat before you come, don't worry. I don't know how good the food will be, might just be smaller snacks, but they promised there will be plenty and it should keep you fueled up for the meeting. Usually someone brings some beer or soda too.

We will be focusing on setting our short and long-term goals for the AZ Deer Association at this meeting. The more people who come, the better the input.

See you tonight.

Amanda

I REALLY planned to attend the meeting tonight but spent the evening in the Emergency Room with my wife for the 2nd time in 3 days. 2 visits, for 15 hours combined! Anyway I am sure you all would agree, Family first, so I will have to make the next meeting.

Looks like they hold board meetings monthly, but the meeting tonight was an annual meeting. Are the board meetings open to other than board members?

Are the minutes of the meeitngs published? What did I miss besides dinner?

AZ4Life,

I hope your wife is doing ok, sorry we missed you, no need to apologize and totally understandable. Family first for sure and definitetly in an emergency situation. I'm glad you are interested and we'd love to have you. Yes we have a board meeting once a month and it is always (unless otherwise noted) the third wed. of every month @ 6:30 p.m. and will be at the same location. You or anyone else are always welcome, you do not have to be a board member to attend or to offer any insights or contribute in any way you can. The minutes of the board meetings are posted on our website. Last nights meeting minutes will probably be posted hopefully sometime before the next meeting. Id' like to personally thank Lee (aka) couesdiehard for attending. Thanks Lee for taking the time out of your schedule and thanks for your insights, I hope you come back it was great to meet you. The annual meeting is kind of boring, we elect new board members and officers and we talked about some short and long term goals and how to help us achieve them along with a few other topics including this weekends Kaibab meeting, fundraising banquet, financial info. The next meeting should be very interesting with a report of what is going on in Kaibab and the results of our meeting up there with G & F and the Forest Service; and we will be getting back into the meat and potatoes of ADA business including habitat projects and helping AZ's deer. Anyways, I hope this helps a little, and I hope your wife is quickly on the mend. Thanks for your interest.

Kevin

Hey all;

Just wanted to say I really learned a lot about ADA at last night's meeting and I encourage and challenge all on this forum to check this association for yourself, join and find the areas where you can participate. This group is made up of hunters who IMHO seem to have their hearts and heads in the right places. Last night's meeting might have been long but believe me it was far more interesting than most of the long meetings I attend at work! Not everyone may want to be a board member or officer but there are plenty of things to be done from which to choose.

Lee

p.s. It was great meeting wetmule, stanley, CouesWhitetail, and all the rest of the concerned and motivated sportsmen and women. Hope to meet more of forum members at future meetings.

Thanks for coming to the meeting Lee. It was a pleasure to meet you as well. Also, thanks for 'spreading the word' about the ADA..... We REALLY want to represent as many deer hunters in the state as possible, but without folks joining the meetings & voicing their opinions, we can't be sure we are heading in the right direction. It truly helps to have new folks who are willing to through their $.02 in to keep things fresh.

I hope that we'll see you (and maybe a few of your buddies...) at one or more of our projects this year! ;-)

Thanks again!

S.

Funny thing is while my wife was in the waiting room and then in the treatment room, she said she felt bad that I was going to miss the meeting. She said to go ahead and go. :P

Yeah right. You folks probably would have questioned my sanity if I did that! Okay, you might question that anyway...

Not sharing a lot of details now, but she has been to the several times this year and this week was a particularly bad week. 6 hours waiting in an ER Monday night plus 3 hours in the exam room started things off wrong. Wen to a different ER and spent 2 hours waiting and 4 hours in exam. She had more tests and DR appts Today and Friday but no one can pin down the real problem. Major furstrating for both of us!

Anyway I will look for the minutes on the site. Okay, I just found them but only through Feb 2005.? Lots of good info and insight into the core members and the issues as a recap for someone interested.

God willing, I will make it to a future meeting!

Glad some of you made it or will make it to future meetings......what I have learned about ADA is that most everyone is just a regular person who is donating their time to help wildlife.......we all have alot of committments but if you can donate any time at meetings or on other projects, it will be appreciated and I know that all the time and dollars goes directly to wildlife, no pay or perks for volunteers.......thanks again to everyone......AT.....

Az4life, I hope your wife gets to feeling better. It's depressing when your spouse is having troubles and they can't put a finger on the cause. Hope she gets well soon.

Thanks to everyone for the prayers and well wishes. It definitely is frustrating not knowing what the oroblem is. ER's really are not a fun thing to do.
