GameHauler Report post Posted July 19, 2009 Thanks Scottyboy for sharing Brutus with us. I received my Contender version of him a week or so ago. This is my Bear and maybe Elk barrel. The 375 JDJ is pictured in the middle Parent case 444 Marlin on left and 44 Remington Magnum or the right for comparison This Top Contender has taken just about every game species that walks the earth and includes the African dangerous game. I read and confirmed that one year it was responsible for the harvesting of 14(?) Elephant. I spent about an hour and a half on the phone today with a man who has owned several of them and his success stories are amazing. He tells me they really are not as Bronco kicking as people fear. He shoots it most of the time one handed but did mention technique He has become a good internet friend and hope to learn allot from him. Here is a link to a little review of it. http://www.gun-tests.com/performance/jan96big.html

cmc Report post Posted July 20, 2009 how can you burn that much powder in that short of a barrel? I'd expect that bullet to be more like a tracer... Reminds me when I shot a .510 revolver based on an older Ruger single action. Not a pleasurable event. Only shot it three times and after the third I discovered I had dislocated my trigger finger, broke a blood vessel the palm of my hand and I had a 1st degree burn on any part of my skin that touched the metal due to the resonating of the metal from the shock of the shot when the gun went off. Every one of us had a burn on out shooting finger that didn't use a glove. Very interesting and I'd never have believed it unless I shot it. After that I needed a bottle of Advil and a beer. And to think all we were doing was shoot forming cases without full loads. I'll never do that again! Try and get a picture of the muzzle flash near dark when that thing goes off. That'd be cool. cmc

Snapshot Report post Posted July 20, 2009 It is a very nice looking rig. Do you have a special holster or sling that you use in the field to carry it it? Just curious as to what works better for those bigger pistols.

Just curious as to what works better for those bigger pistols. When I get a few bucks saved up I will have a Quite Hide holster made for it. Glad I did not order it before for my 7-30 Waters barrel since the 375 may not have fit with the vent rib. http://qh-holsters.com/
The Claw Report post Posted July 22, 2009 Hey Game, Don't want to detract from that beauty but I couldn't resist after seeing those pics. I am sure that the whole point of the handgun is to shoot "free" but if you ever need a little more stability for a longer shot, The Claw works ridiculously well with those. In fact, that's the only time where I feel like I'm cheating because it is so hard for me to shoot a handgun well with my little handgun experience. Congrats on the new toy. Hope you get to thump some critters with it.
