Redman Report post Posted July 19, 2009 Greetings, I have an 01 chevy silverado. I have not used a brake controller before, but know have a need to. I purchased a brake controller and wiring harness and hooked it up. There are four wires going to the brake controller. The black is hot all the time, the red gets hot when the brakes are pressed, but the blue wire does not get hot at the hitch (the controller says trailer not connected). I checked the blue wire under the hood (under the fuse box by the battery) and it is connected. All other lights work at the hitch (brake, turn, running and AC wire). Should the blue wire get hot at the hitch when the brake is pushed? Any help would would be helpful. Redman

Redman Report post Posted July 19, 2009 hunterdude, thanks for the reply, I found the problem, the trailer brake wire (blue) had a short in it. Got it working and trailer brakes (even with a pop up) are great! Redman
