How to shed hunt using a game camera

Step 1.

hang game camera on what appears to be a good spot.

 

Step 2.

Check game camera and see buck wearing head gear way too late in the season. Turn to your buddy and say " I can't beleive this deer still has his antlers"!

Step 3.

check next few pictures and see him back a few hours later wearing only 1 side.

Step 4.

Determine which direction you saw him coming from when he first appeared with only one antler

Step 5.

Go in the direction he came from on the cam when you can finally get back up there and find shed less than 30 yards from the camera!

Check out his eyeguard, see how it is broke? That is how I can confirm for sure it is the same buck, compare it to the pic while he's still wearin it.

 

I found the antler in less than a minute when I started looking for it. I was so pumped and I had been waiting about a month to get back up there and find his right side. It was getting close to dark and did not find his other side, but will try to find it next time up there. This is a super lucky occourance I am sure, and one of my most rewarding and memorable since I not only set out to find this buck, but his right side in an exact direction. Had I not have seen him back with only 1 antler a few hours later, I never would have gone the direction he came from and would never have found it.
