GameHauler Report post Posted July 15, 2009 I was just thinking about the refund checks from AZGFD that I will likely be receiving in the mail soon What if the Dept allowed you to let them keep the permit fees for next years draw so all you would have to do is come up with the application fee and any deference in permit fees. It is not a big deal to me about coming up with the money each year because I have a separate account that I use only for this and other hunting related items when I have the extra above what stays for permits. I think this could be a win/win for both the hunter and the Dept. The hunter would not have to worry about coming up with funds each year (You already spent the $, Pretend it's not there) and the Dept could earn a little interest off of it. You are helping wildlife and they have a few extra bucks to work with. This could also help with hunter retention since some would be able to put in again that may not be able to because of unforeseen $ problems. Another point guys (Gals) you would not have to ask your spouse about having to come up with the $ when they always need it for more important things, LIKE THE MORTGAGE Just a thought, let us know what you think. I know there will be those to say BS, I can earn the interest ect.
Str8Shot Report post Posted July 15, 2009 So what your saying is have the dept create a fund for each sportman using their ID with a balance that can only be used towards permits and tags .. So they can try to grow the money each calendar year .... In my opinion something like that would be fine if they decided to waive the application fees on each unsuccessful draw... Yes and good point I would think maybe a reduced App. fee instead of waived. Maybe $5.00 instead of the current $7.
GameHauler Report post Posted July 15, 2009 Here is another point of benefit. Say you have a family of 4 and all love to hunt. To come up with the money for both species for four is a big chunk of change I was doing it when you had to do it for all of them (Species) at one time and I am not even thinking about the low dollar permits like Turkey and Javi. You have spent the $, leave it there, only worry about increase in fees and App. fees Win/Win
Snapshot Report post Posted July 15, 2009 They could waive the next years application fee if they held onto the money, and put a check yes/no box on the application to give people the option of participating. It could work?
GameHauler Report post Posted July 15, 2009 They could waive the next years application fee if they held onto the money, and put a check yes/no box on the application to give people the option of participating. It could work? I think there are some that feel: if you check the donation box if not drawn on the current App. you will not be drawn so they can get some free money. I do not believe that and never will but some do. So, If you are not drawn they Email or snail mail you and ask. May slow down the refunds a bit but so what. GameHauler Report post Posted July 15, 2009 Another thought Dads We are paying for the permits for our kids and love to be doing it BUT Leave the money there and when they get to the age like my kids and no longer pay for the permits as they are old enough to do it on there own (YA RIGHT) they have the funds there to continue without asking for the $
cramerhunts Report post Posted July 16, 2009 I would be all for it. I don't see a real reason why you would need to lower the app. fee since you are currently paying year after year anyway. The only hicup is what if you are just putting in for a bonus point? Just the app. fee with no change to your account maybe? Phil
4Falls Report post Posted July 17, 2009 Mike, That is a genius idea and truly inspired thinking. Id be all for it, specially since my young-uns are coming of hunting age....
Coues79 Report post Posted July 18, 2009 +1 for a good idea. While the paper applications are still being used, I see this as being a beneficial method for most folks to look into the future. Once the online application process begins again, I think a lot of people will start putting the costs back onto their cards, so the "fund" may not be as big to the G&F. Nevertheless, I don't mind them keeping my money for future draws, as long as it is a reliable and fail safe system. If they can earn interest on the money then fine; doesn't bother me.
