standman Report post Posted July 11, 2009 Decided to brave the heat yesterday morning and hit San Carlos. Morning heat wasnt too bad as a little cloud cover kept the temps to almost tolerable, especially for a mountain boy. Anyway got on the water at 5 am and was off the water a little after 9am. Crappie fishing was tough. Could not get them to bite. Ended up with just two crappie. Maybe the bright moon kept them feeding at night. So bass fishing became the primary target. Ended up with 17 bass, largest being just under 3lbs. and 14 catfish. All bass and catfish were caught dropshotting Gulp shakey worms and 4" Gulp minnows. Water temp was 80 degrees, water clarity was pretty dingy, and water levels are low and still falling. So be careful if you go and try to run in the middle of lake and coves. Was a good day on the water.
Snapshot Report post Posted July 11, 2009 17 Bass and 14 catfish in a morning! Sounds like a great time. Are the fish more concentrated with the low water levels. I have not been up there in awhile.
